I V O R Y
"No way," I felt irritated and awkward. "You can't stay overnight."
"It's not like I want to stay here," Logan rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "If you can stop the rain, go ahead." I involuntarily clenched my fists and immediately let go when I felt my nails curling into my skin. I sighed. I should stop being so aggressive. I need help, I thought.
"Fine, whatever, whatever," I groaned. I pointed to one distinct side and to the other. "You are on that corner and I get the bed."
"Why do you get the bed?" Logan complained. I made the move to raise my foot and he flinched. "Alright, alright, I'll use the floor." He pointed to me. "I want the comforter, though. You use the blanket."
"Fine," I took the comforter and threw it at him. "Here you go." He caught it hastily and spread it out on his side. He pointed a small door to the side that I hadn't noticed.
"That's the bathroom," He said, letting his hand down. "Do you want to go first or..."
"I'll go first," I said instantly. I felt my ears heat up. "Sorry, um..."
"It's fine," Logan scratched his head. I ran into the bathroom with the backpack and pulled out my gym towel. I stripped from Izzy's very feminine clothes and turned the shower on. I stepped in and the heat started to make my skin burn up.
The shower was actually burning me. I let out a loud gasp and tried to turn the cold water knob. The water was increasingly getting hotter. "Logan!" I screamed. "What is wrong with this shower?!" I stepped away from the water's reach and stood on the edge of the bathtub.
"What?" Logan yelled back. There was a pause. "Oh, crap! Ivory, push the button on the left to get cold water! It's really hot, right?"
"The button?" I searched for it and found it in range of the splattering hot water. I gulped and pushed my hand in. It was more painful than getting hit by the Hero, an opponent that I beat, but had gotten several punches in first. I screamed a little and pushed the button. Immediately the water had a spout of cold water and the water cooled. I gave a breath of relief.
"Ivory!" I heard Logan bang on the door. "Are you okay?"
"Your grandpa needs to fix the water here!" I yelled back. I finally washed the dirt out of my body and the dust out of my hair. "You're dead when I'm back in there!"
"Well I see that you're fine," I heard Logan grumble. "You're threatening me already."
I was about to respond when the water turned hot again. I yelped and pushed the button. I sighed with relief and finished up washing. I stepped out and dried myself with my towel. I slipped on an long, old shirt I found in my backpack and pulled it down.. I sighed. I would rather have an old shirt than no shirt, but it wasn't a win situation either. I had no pants and just underwear. I got out of the bathroom to find myself face to face with Logan. His eyes traveled down and back up. My ears turned red and I almost raised my leg when he made a click sound with his mouth and pointed to my shirt hiking up, with a trace of black underwear. I instantly put it down and ran to the bed. Idiot, idiot, idiot, idiot, I thought furiously, covering my head with the thin blanket. I heard Logan laugh and go into the bathroom. I felt my eyes close and my mind slip into a vivid dream, as the water from the shower and the water from the outside calmed my mind.
I was running on water, and suddenly I slipped, and my foot fell through a certain water spot, and I fell into a black hole, the sound of rain and wind fell through my ears. My feet finally felt the hard ground and I took off running. Why am I running? Why am I running? I thought breathlessly. The trees breezed through my mind and the skies were bright pink and orange with flashes of blue. I saw Logan in the distance, then Henry, then Connor, then Isaac. My legs kept running as my mind said to stop. My legs ran to the crossroads, and my feet stopped. Isaac walked away, and then Andy. watched Connor walk away, while Henry and Logan stood several meters away. Suddenly it was raining. Henry opened up an umbrella, while Logan looked around and pulled his jacket on top of his head. My mind wandered to Logan, and my body followed. His jacket was held up on top of me, and both of our shoulders got wet. I smiled, and my heart fluttered. Suddenly the scene changed, and I was at the Moon Night. I was on the fighting stage, and a boy in a mask stood before me. He was tall and skinny, wearing a similar mask to mine. Who is that? I thought. Suddenly the sound of rain grew louder and I opened my eyes.
I was safely tucked in the bed, with the comforter over my body. I looked over to my side and found Logan sleeping on his side, a thin shirt covering his chest. I took the comforter and threw it carelessly over him. I got up and looked out the window. It was bright and shining, where yesterday's rain was flowing into the gutter. I took my bag and ran out of the small townhouse. I felt the wind in areas that shouldn't, and cursed at myself. I started to run to the Moon Night, ignoring the people muttering and pointing at me. I groaned at myself and ran in. Thalia was wiping the counter and looked up.
"Holy crap," Thalia took her jacket and wrapped it around my waist. "What are you doing, showing your butt like that, and being nearly naked?"
I scratched my head. "I'm wearing a shirt."
"Change. Now," Thalia shoved me into a changing room and threw her old clothes at me. "Wear those!"
"Alright, alright," I took them and changed into a sweatshirt and joggers. I came out, and Thalia was shaking her head. She pointed at an article on her phone and I leaned in. It was a picture of me, running in a tall shirt, barely covering my lower half. I groaned.
"You're such an idiot," Thalia sighed and threw the phone at me. I caught it and sighed.
"Can you delete it?" I asked while handing the phone back to her.
"I can do miracles, Ivory, you punk," Thalia snatched the phone and we both went to the bar counter. "The internet is an ever changing monster with no boundaries. I can't fix a beast."
"Aw, man," I sighed. "I wasn't thinking. I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible."
"Why? Was something there?" Thalia took up a tall glass and poured out a clear blue drink with shaved ice and handed it to me. "Was Henry there or something?"
"Worse," I took it and took a sip.
"Who, Logan?" Thalia let out a disbelieving laugh. I kept silent and took another gulp. She slammed the metal shaker on the counter and groaned. "Why was he there?"
"You're the one who made me stay over at his place?" I accused.
Thalia laughed. "So did the set up work?"
"What set up?" I asked.
"Nothing," Thalia left the counter with a sly smile.
"Hey!" I called after her. "You can't just leave after that!"
The door crept open and Henry bounded in. His face lit up and he threw his arms around me. I shrugged them off and sighed.
"Ivory!" Henry grinned and winked at me. Logan followed him afterwards.
"Hey, why did you leave without me?" Logan said, breathless. "I thought you had died or something."
"Why?" Henry turned to him. "What happened?"
"Oh," Logan said casually. "She slept over at my house last night."
"With you?" Henry's eyes popped out.
"Hold on, that's not -" I started.
"Yeah," Logan shrugged. "Not a big deal."
Henry's throat cleared and he stared at me. He glanced at me up and down and clasped my hands together. "I thought we were meant to be," Henry said, teary. I stared at him, then at Logan, who was smugly looking at me.
What the hell is wrong with this situation?
