The party was in full swing by the time they arrived to Harry and Juliet’s expanse mansion. Harry constantly asked Niall when he was going to buy a house for him and Violet, but they loved their flat and had grown attached to it. He figured they would start looking for a house soon, knowing how long it would take to find the perfect abode that satisfied Violet’s taste. Although she liked simplicity, she desired a house that felt right, a place that felt like home. The large brick driveway of the mansion was filled with cars, mostly SUVs with tinted windows and a few sports cars. Niall preferred to have Paul drive them to events like this in their Range Rover, saving his flashy vehicles for alternative occasions. He didn’t expect anything of note to happen at this party, but he didn’t want to take a chance, keeping Violet safe was always his goal. ‘I always forget how pretty their house is.’ Violet said, admiring the architecture of the faux chateau. She spent a lot of time in the house with Juliet, preferring to sleep there when Niall had to travel. She loved their apartment, but hated being alone and enjoyed Juliet’s company. There were a few guys outside, talking and smoking cigars. ‘Finally you’re here!’ Called one of them, his smile wide. ‘Zaynie!’ Violet greeted him, giving him a hug. ‘Everybody’s been waiting for you two.’ He said, giving Niall a nod. ‘Juliet’s been dying without you Violet.’ Said another boy as he kissed Violet on the cheek. His name was Louis Tomlinson, another member of the group. Like Zayn, his hair was slicked back and he wore black dress pants, a crisp white shirt and a skinny tie under his jacket. ‘I’ll have to go find her.’ Violet said, turning to Niall. ‘I’ll just be sec.’ Niall said before turning to the boys.
Violet entered the house through the large double doors, walking through the crowded entryway into the ballroom. She immediately spotted Juliet, talking with a few of her model friends. She wore a deep blue, one shoulder gown. It was floor length chiffon, with crystal jewels adorning the midsection and cutouts on either side of her waist. Her peep toe, patent leather Louboutins made her even taller, towering above Violet. Her hands were covered in black satin gloves, stopping just below her elbows. A cocktail ring adorned her right hand, along with a diamond bracelet on her wrist. ‘Darling! I’ve been waiting for you! This party is absolutely dreadful without my best girl!’ She broke away from the conversation, abandoning the group. Always a character, she held a long cigarette holder, imitating her idol, Audrey Hepburn. ‘Here love, have a drink!’ She said to Violet, depositing her empty champagne glass as a waiter walked by. She grabbed two more glasses, handing one to Violet who immediately downed the drink, quickly reaching for another. ‘Violet!’ exclaimed Harry, walking up to the two girls. ‘You look absolutely stunning, almost as good as my Juliet.’ He said with a smile. ‘Oh hush Harry,’ Juliet laughed, ‘we all know she’s the best-looking person here. I’m so glad you bought that dress Vi, it’s gorgeous on you.’ She smiled, complimenting her friend. ‘Well, if you two beauties will excuse me, I have to find the others, we have business to conduct.’ Harry said, scanning the room. ‘Oh, don’t take long Hazza, it’s a party after all!’ Juliet said, raising her glass, ‘Besides, I hear you have goodies for us!’ She said quietly, winking at Violet. ‘Of course, of course.’ Harry said as he spotted Liam, the final member of the group. Liam waved at the three of them before heading towards the front hall, towards the study Violet assumed. Harry followed him as Zayn, Louis and Niall entered through the front door. If Violet didn’t know any better, she would’ve thought the boys had a sixth sense, always knowing where the others were.
‘Alright,’ Niall said, closing the door of the study, ‘what’s the update?’ He asked casually, taking a seat on the large mahogany desk. ‘The shipment arrived about an hour ago, it’s all ready for distribution.’ Harry said proudly. ‘It’s all there?’ Zayn asked. ‘Yep,’ Harry nodded, ‘ten kilos.’ He walked over to the armoire in the back of the room, retrieving a crystal bottle filled with dark liquid. ‘Have a brandy boys,’ he said pouring the drink into five tumblers. ‘To success,’ Niall said, raising his glass. ‘To success!’ The boys responded cheerfully, raising their glasses. ‘How long do you suppose we have before the girls come barging in here?’ Liam asked sarcastically. ‘Don’t be sour just cause you’re single Payno!’ Louis joked. Liam rolled his eyes, ‘Oh shutup Tommo. You haven’t gotten laid since we left school!’ Louis scoffed with mock offense, ‘Tell that to Anastasia Wallace, she stayed over mine last night.’ ‘Anastasia Wallace? The model?’ Zayn asked, surprised. Louis nodded his head, ‘The girl may not be bright but she’s a hell of a good shag.’ He added smugly. ‘You’re ridiculous.’ Niall remarked, taking a swig. ‘Hey, not all of us can snag a girl like Violet, we have to take what we can get!’ Niall shook his head at Louis’ comment, but he knew in his heart that this was the truth. He felt incredibly lucky to have Violet in his life, wondering where he would be if they hadn’t stumbled upon each other. ‘Speaking of which, we should probably get back to the party soon, God only knows what kind of shit those two have gotten into.’ Juliet was one of the few people who he would trust with Violet, in addition Paul and the boys. He knew that the girls wouldn’t be up to anything too crazy, but used this as an excuse, wanting to be by her side again. They were rarely apart for long periods of time, but he’d been rather busy lately and with Violet’s dance schedule they hadn’t spent a lot of time together in the past few weeks. Zayn rolled his eyes, ‘They’ll be fine. What’s the worst they can do? Get drunk and dance on a few tables again?’ He laughed, remembering a party the previous year, where Juliet and Violet had put on performance when their favorite song came on. They danced like fools, stumbling over each other and breaking glasses. The guests wouldn’t dare say anything, however, knowing whom these girls were associated with. Other girls found their selves jealous of the two, knowing that no matter whom they dated or how hard they tried, they would never have the power that Violet and Juliet possessed. They were romantically involved with two members of the most powerful mob in the country, reigning positions at the top of the hierarchy. It may not have seemed like they had a lot of influence or control, but these girls had their fair share of supremacy. They could influence the five boys through a matter of words, although they rarely chose to do so. They trusted the boys, knowing that everything they did was precisely calculated and would benefit them all.
