The old woman lived alone, I felt quite sorry for her.
She wasn't sad though, and this surprised me.
Her husband died fighting to protect the village, and her son has yet to return from his adventures.
I wanted to feel sorry for her, feel remorse, but I couldn't.
How could I? She seems so happy and grateful for the things she has now.
She has no fear and has confidence in what she does. By that I mean shes one of the greatest bakers in town.
She always smiles.
"Whats your name?" I ask quietly, trying not to disturb the good feeling in the room.
"Its long forgotten... but you can call be granny, what of you though? Whats your name?"
"Kina. My name is Kina."
She laughs a bit, "Take pride in your name, i can feel it... one day it will be written down in history."
She retires to her room, but her words stick with me. How would a baker know that? Maybe she's just trying to cheer me up.
I decide to leave her house, heading for the edge of town.
I want confidence.
Confidence like the baker. Like Granny.
Confidence in what I do.
Walking for the forest, I can see people scatter around the inn. I can see one white haired man almost looking frantically.
I hid from you once Geralt.
I have my confidence in my stealth skills.
But hear my thoughts as I make a silent declaration.
I will have my confidence in my fighting skills. Potion making skills.
I will be a witcher.
