In the morning Geralt and I spare. I think he notices a change in my movements.
My movements are more confident, more fluent.
I feel stronger.
The sparring stop at good point and we go our different ways, tension caused by the way I spoke to him yesterday.
Out of the corner of my eye I see Granny pulling her cart, So i say a farewell to my friends and go to her. I take one of the cart handles and start to pull.
"And here I thought you would be with your friends today," She speaks softly, voice cracking a bit.
I smiles and shake my head no, "They have their own things to do for today, leaving me be."
We talk for a bit more, when suddenly the cart becomes lighter. Glancing to the side I notice its Geralt whose taken Granny's place.
She coos at him in delight, "Oh! The gods have blessed me with another witcher."
Geralt glances my way, "Is that what you were doing yesterday?"
I shrug and give a small laugh, "Perhaps I was? It was quite fun being with Granny."
Granny starts talking to Geralt about things and where we going.
I focus on the path ahead of us. Wheels bumping against gravels and going into cracks of the stone. The scent of the forest and baked goods fill the air the closer we get to the market.
The stalls that I was sent crashing into seem to be fixed up, looking better then they did. The blood on the ground washed away by a woman spilling water from her bucket most likely.
Children are running about and playing games, fighting one another with sticks. Or shall I say make believe swords and bows? Fake magic? Young warriors and mages in the making.
A shadow lurks in the forest, unseen by most. Its clearly visible to me though, probably Geralt as well.
Its to cautious to be a hunter coming home, too slow to be a child playing hide and seek.
It follows the movement of the cart, unseen eyes looking upon this small group.
It knows were witchers, two together. It wouldn't dare come into town.
I can feel the magic and contempt dripping from the shadow. It must be Erom. It has to be him.
Turning to Geralt and whisper, "Look to the trees, what do you see?"
Geralts yellows eyes scan over the trees and groans, "A shadow that should know his place by now."
We reach Grannys stall and wave Granny off as we leave. Our destination?
The forest.
