“We were called out, or else we would of never left her” Was all Van could muster to say. It was the cold hard truth, had the twins not been called out of the room she would of never had to face that bastard alone. The answer didn’t suffice, but instead of punching them the brothers missed on purpose hitting the wall near their heads. After that it had gone quiet, no one wanting to speak more of the matter. Instead every nurse that passed by, was a target to see who could get more info out of.
Tom and his two sons returned, extra coffees for the men. Handing them out as the hot beverage is the only warm in this whole place, Owen sits his brother to his left their leaving on this knees. Everything about this whole trip has gone wrong, they had a feeling Riae was up to something, but never questioned her. Next time….they wouldn’t hesitate. Did she know what this was doing to them, how their insides were eating away at the flesh binding the organs together.
As much as they wanted to be mad at her, or even when they come face to face with her, it wasn’t going to be possible. One look at her face and they’d crumble like left out dough, she had a way of making them bend to her will. A trickle of a smile played on their lips, as they recalled the time Owen had once again argued with her over some training method. Her face hardened making him chew his cheek, he’d once again gone off an spit words he knew he shouldn’t have.
“You can’t make us bend to your will” He barked, knowing to damn well she could. Without even a second, she had given him a question inside an answer.
“Owen what happens to something, that doesn’t bend?” He knew damn well what happened, but she never answered the question. Riae just kept instructing them on what to do next, they break he thought…..the break over and over again.
The double doors opened, alerting the men that a male doctor was approaching. His eyes did the same scanning that the nurse had done, trying to pin point who was more in charge. But the whole group had stood up, wanting to know the outcome.
“I’m Doctor Steinberg. I’m looking for Riae Butler’s family?” He looked between the large men.
“I’m her father, these five here are her brothers. And those two…are her fiancées” The word was new to him, but he seemed to say it with pride. Dr. Steinberg blinked at the twins, before nodding. Surly the man had seen odder things then this.
“Alright, so Riae has been given a heavy dose of pain killers. Her knee is severely damaged, after careful x-rays we determined the pins holding it together have cracked.” He gave them time to adjust.
“The rest of her is covered in bruises, she has two broken ribs and a mild concussion. The lacerations on her throat, have begun to heal, so I don’t believe any real damage to her wind pipe has taken effect. However…” Breaths held, as the Doc was fixing his glasses before releasing a breath.
“The knee specialist we have seems to think, her leg would be better if amputated. Thee amount of damage is rather server, but the report states her fight. So under the circumstances we can see how it got to this point, if you choose not to amputate then she will need months of physical therapy. And even then it may not be enough.” Clearing his throat. Van felt sick, Owen dropped into a chair while the brothers were dizzy wobbling around, it was her father who held his ground the best.
“So that’s it then? We either do months of therapy or we remove her leg…no middle ground?”
“I’m afraid not” He asked rather dryly. It was Craig who was the first to speak, causing Owen to want to once again punch his face in.
“Remove her leg” His brothers gawked, at the balls he had to make such a critical decision.
“That’s not your decision to make, Craig” Leo growled.
“What choice does she have, its either that or what…” The bickering began once more, leaving the Doc to excuse himself while they got their acts together. Again they were causing a scene, making eyes dart in their direction. Some brothers agreed with Craig while others like Van and Owen disagreed. Their Riae was strong, she’d throw a fit if she woke up with out both legs.
“ENOUGH!” Tom bellowed, all eyes on him as he raked his hair.
