And Then They Came

Chapter 18

My eyes slowly opened. I bolted up. I didn't know where I was. Where was everyone? Graham? My heart started to race. Then my eyes came across Jade, Rebecca, and Rachael sleeping with their heads on my bed. Ray was across the room sleeping on a couch. I didn't see Graham anywhere. Where was he? Where was I?

I heard a groan and my eyes flashed down at my friends. Jade's head moved slowly before she said sleepily,

"Rachael, stop moving. You keep hitting me." 

Her head slowly came up and we both made eye contact before a loud scream escaped from her mouth. She had one of the biggest smiles I've ever seen on her face and threw her arms around me, embracing me in a tight hug. Everyone quickly jolted awake at the scream and saw that I was awake. They quickly embraced me into a hug before I cringed in pain.

"Ahh, sorry!" they all said before moving back, not taking their eyes off of me. I couldn't help but give them a smile.

"Guys, seriously, I'm fine. There's no need to worry." I say with a serious tone, "Where even am I?"

"You're in the medical house." a tired voice called from the side, "You've been here for about 5 days, 10 hours, and about 56 minutes. If I was counting right." I turned my head to the right and saw Graham limp in a little painfully with multiple cups of coffee. My eyebrows furrowed slightly as I saw who was helping him in. Ava, of course.

Jade stood quickly and walked up to Graham. "Here. Let me help." she walked to Graham's left and went to put her arm around his to help him but Ava intervened. "It's okay. I got it."

Jade looked at her a wide eyed expression that said 'are you serious? Bitch I've been doing this my whole life.' I couldn't help but chuckle, and that only caused me to go into a coughing fit. Everyone's eyes snapped onto me with a concerned expression except Ava's and Jade's. Jade glanced back at me but her eyes were locked on Ava.

I waved a dismissive gesture and chocked out, "It's...fine. Just...a...coughing fit." 

Rebecca stood smoothly and stood next to Jade, casually elbowing her in the side before turning her annoyed look on to Ava. I saw Ava recoil slightly at the unrelenting look that was weighing on her but it was gone as soon as it came.

"Now, I got that you think your the whole bad ass character." seeing her intake of breath to protest she raised one eyebrow and added, "I don't expect you to interrupt me now. I see the whole thing in your demeanor. The whole shooting our friend in the head without question or hesitation thing? That is kind of screaming that to me."

"What?" I said anger very evident in my voice. What were they talking about? Is this the girl that shot Silvia?

"Oh. Yeah, about that." she said looking back at me sheepishly, "Ava here was the one to kill Silvia. Shot her right in the head without reason." she turned her burning eyes back to Ava who shrugged.

I was in a rage. All I wanted to do was beat the girl who just shrugged at the death of my friend as if it was nothing. 

"I knew something was off about you." I said staring forward hatred and anger burning in my heart. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw everyone turn and look at me.

"But I didn't know you were a heartless bitch." I said looking her dead in the eye with a smile that held no humor. Everyone backed up a little, besides Ava. They have only seen me in this state twice. They already know the outcome.

"Excuse me, what?" Ava said her eyebrows furrowing in anger, "How dare you?"

"How dare I?" I repeated looking at her wide eyed. "How dare I?" I repeated louder. "HOW DARE I?" I screamed at her. She backed up a little. Graham took Jade's arm and left Ava in the middle of the room to face me.

"Oh, my bad. Did I fucking hurt your feelings?" I screamed in absolute anger, "But how dare I do that to you! It isn't like you killed one of my best friends! No! Not the person that I've known since I was a baby! Not someone who was a part of my foundation holding me!"

I turned to face her fully, my legs dangling off the edge of the bed. She only looked on at me with an anger stricken face without saying anything.

"You're just the bitch who killed one of the people who knew me better than I knew myself. That's all you'll ever be to me." I said pushing myself off the bed with darkened eyes still on her.

"What did we do to you?" I said tears starting to trickle down my face as I stood straight, "What did she do to you? She was probably just quietly standing listening to your every order because that was how she was! You had to take her from this world." I said grabbing the bedside table as a dizzy spell washed over me. Once it was gone I stood straight and continued.

"You played God! You killed her mercilessly! No reason, no question! Nothing! But how dare I call you a fucking bitch! I was only stating what you were." I yelled coming to stand in her face. My darkened eyes looked into her hard ones.

"And now you're trying to suck up to Graham." I said backing off a few paces, "Wanting to take all my friends? Might as well kill us all while you're at it!"

Ava took a step toward me anger on her face and hands clenched at her sides. "Come on, bitch." I said stepping forward also.

My hand went out before hers. It made a solid impact to her nose and she stumbled back, blood trickling down. She came back and tried to throw a right hook but I ducked under it, slamming my fist into her ribs. I stood and threw my foot behind hers causing her to fall off balance. She fell back and slammed into the tile floor of the room, her head slamming back in the process. While down, I walked up and kicked her repeatedly in the ribs, my anger lowering with every kick. With the final kick, I crouched down over her body, "Don't you ever threaten me again." I said before stepping over her body and walking out the door.

I just walked through the town that wasn't mine, that I've never seen. People stared as I walked, but I didn't care. I needed to be alone. I couldn't deal with any of these people. They meant nothing to me.

Why did it even matter if I came here?
