"Miss. Reid can you please stop writing in that book of yours and pay attention to the presentation being handed in front of you." The AP literature teacher spoke with authority, his voice booming throughout the entire class.
Skylar quickly closed her diary which she preferred to call 'The Skyiary' ;a name which she had came up with since the day she got. Skylar remembered the day like any other; she was outside helping her grandma Jenna tend to the rose patches outside in the yard while her father was making her a swing under the big tree. Her mother was inside preparing the food for super later, she recalled her mother coming out in a yellow floral dress with a wide smile stretched across her face and calling her inside. When she went inside she, her mother pulled her upstairs and rummaged through the bookshelf for the same purple diary with gold diamonds she had now.
"I saw this book yesterday when I went to the store and I just knew you'd love it, you can draw and write whatever you feel like in there." She stated handing the book to Skylar.
"Miss. Reid I would not repeat my orders again." The teacher interrupted, allowing tension to build up in the room.
"I already put the book in my bag." She whispered to herself.
At this point Skylar was sure everyone was staring at her and she hated that, but nonetheless Skylar ignored the eyes and focused on the presentation in front of her silently waiting on the bell to ring.
The teacher end the lecture two minutes before the bell and sent everyone out of the class early. Skylar thought about the perks of sitting right next to the doors and quickly got up from here seat only to have here bag pushed out of her hands and out the door.
'What the actual fuck?' she stated in her mind, tilting her head to the side still in total shock of what happened.
"Instead of standing there I think you should go get the bag before someone actually takes it." A voice said behind Skylar.
She looked up to see a dark haired boy who seemed to be new. She took in all his features, the fact he tattoos that covered his arms, and those that trailed by his neck which she assumed started at his chest, along with some of the most beautiful brown eyes she's ever seen.
The boy cleared his throat to get her attention at the same time telling her once more that she should get her bag. This time complying Skylar walked out the door and got her bag heading for the canteen. She sat in her usual spot by herself pulling out the sub she had prepared for lunch today. The same time she placed her diary next to her lunch a figure slid right in front of her,she had noticed the clothes and looked up to confirm suspicions.
"I didn't get your name tho, I'm Mason." He said stretching his hand towards Skylar.
Never had Skylar had someone come and introduce them self to her and it was kind of strange that this boy, Mason had been the first to do so. Despite the odd fact she reached for his hand and shook it, not wanting to come off rude.
"Aren't you going to tell me your name?" He asked taking a bite greedily out of the fried chicken that he had not too long ago stabbed with his fork.
Skylar hesitated for a moment before letting him know her name. When she told him the boys smile lit up but it wasn't enough to stop Skylar from opening her diary to write in.
"What do you even write in that book?" Skylar stopped to look up at the boy who was suddenly so interested in her. At this time both of them had finished their lunch, Mason studying and taking in Skylar's features and movement and Skylar writing in her diary.
The bell rang the same time Skylar was about to answer. They both got up Skylar putting her bag on her back and taking the books she had out in her hands. Skylar made her way to the door Mason following behind.
"You didn't answer my question." he shouted pushing his shoulder through the massive group of students so he could get through to meet her.
"It's my Skyiary." When she say the confusion on his face she went on to explain more.
"It's a diary, I call it Skyiary because I didn't want to have something as boring as Skylar's Diary on it." Skylar turned the book to him so he could the word Skyiary embedded in the hard cover.
"That's cool." He replied walking into the class after her.
This time Mason made sure he had got a seat right next to Skylar so he wouldn't have to be looking at the back of her head the entire class although he didn't mind. Skylar couldn't help but notice that he had taken up the empty seat next to her too, brushing the blond strands of hair from out of her face, Skylar looked over at Mason and smiled.
