Bakugo Katsuki was in an ornery mood. It came to no one's surprise that he was in such a horrible mood and everyone in class made sure to be extra careful not to set off the fiery blonde. It even got so bad that Aizawa-sensei had sent him to stand out in the hall to cool off. One might wonder what was the source of Katsuki's attitude problem. It was quite simple;

Tomorrow was Valentine's Day.

"K-Kacchan," he heard, a familiar yap of someone. It was his childhood friend, Kurage Awako. She had seemed awfully cheery and starry-eyed that day, her cheeks a bright pink and her laugh a little louder than normal. She even paid attention in class. There was a simple reason for this as well;

Tomorrow was Valentine's Day.

The snow fell silently as she zoomed over to meet the blonde, skidding and sliding into him, almost knocking him over.

"Watch where you're fucking going!" he snipped at her, his hands on her shoulders to steady the both of them. She simply let out small laughs as he did so, her face turning red.

The snowflakes had fallen onto her lashes and hair, tickling her face. Katsuki watched as she smiled up at him and he nearly felt his clothes set on fire.

The walk home was even worse and he could hardly even look at her. He knew what was coming for the most part.

For some reason he always hated this holiday. The lovey-dovey feel of girls giving boys chocolate or cookies almost made him gag. Over the years the chocolate he received had gone from dozens from admiring girls in his classes to none. That never really bothered him. It was a stupid holiday anyway. Of course there was only one person who never seemed to gift him anything. Only once had it happened.

They had already made it to Awako's home.

"W-Well, goodbye then," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. Was she talking the whole time? He didn't even notice.

"Goodnight!" she chimed, not even fazed.

They were still in elementary school when Katsuki had first received his chocolate. It was from a bushy-haired girl that had began to follow him everywhere. "Wanko" was what he called her. She had pulled him aside from the playground as they waited for their parents to walk them home.

"I have a p-present," she said, brushing her brown hair from her face and looking up at him. From behind her back she pulled a tiny piece of chocolate, wrapped in red wrapper.

"Papa says I'm too young to make chocolate, so I got this from the store," she mumbled, holding it out to him.

The young Katsuki had stared at her as if she grew another head. They had stood in silence for what seemed like forever before Awako had stepped closer. She inhaled deeply before closing her eyes and going onto her tip-toes, pressing her lips to his in a tiny peck.

It happened so fast that Katsuki panicked. He had rubbed his mouth as if it had acid on it and stumbled back, sputtering in confusion. Sure the other girls had given him some candies, running away and giggling before he could say anything. He even puffed up in pride at having gotten the most out of all the boys. But none of them had gotten as far as to kiss him.

"G-Gross!" he said, a little too loud. She looked shocked, her face darkening red at his words.

She had dropped the chocolate, running from him.

Kurage Awako was a nervous wreck. She could hardly contain herself as she bustled about the kitchen, running from the counter to her cookbook then back again, making sure to triple read each step and measure everything precisely.
