Katsuki sat in the hospital waiting room for what seemed like ages. His hands were on his knees and he tapped his fingers, a slight pout on his features. They only allowed two people in Awako's room at a time and so he had to wait his turn which was already going on an hour. He slipped out his phone, checking it for the thousandth time and saw only a minute had passed since the last time he did.
It had already been a few days since the villain incident and the urgency in his gut drove him crazy. He tapped the photo album icon, scrolling through the photos he took of her. Most were selfies she took on his phone when he wasn't paying attention, usually with him in the background not paying any attention. They were old but they were all he had of her at the moment.
Cardiac arrest. That's the last he had heard happened to her. She went into cardiac arrest and then was in a coma for two days. He tightened his hold on the phone, gritting his teeth. Why did she even hang around him? It was something he asked himself over and over. He was so fucking mean to her and she still stayed by his side. He deserved every bit of the attitude he gave her the past few months. He deserved the way she ignored him. He couldn't even tell her how he really felt. He always ended up doing just the opposite.
He scrolled through the pictures to one that he snapped recently, when she fell asleep on the train home. One of the bumps caused her to fall into him. She stayed sound asleep and he couldn't help but take a picture of both of them.
He stared at the picture, his hand shaking slightly.
"Ah, Bakugou-san," he heard someone croak. Tsuyu stood before him in normal clothes, something odd to him since he was so used to seeing her in either her hero costume or school uniform.
He fumbled with his phone, quickly shoving it in his pocket before snipping, "It's about time. I've been waiting for hours."
Tsuyu ignored the comment, her gaze wandering to a bag on the floor by his feet. Staring at her he slid it beneath his chair with his foot, his arms crossed. She poked her chin, saying "You're here to visit Awako, right?"
"Yes," he replied.
"She's asleep for now, but she should wake up soon. I have to go babysit my brother and sister. See you at school," she said, waving to him before leaving.
He watched her go before looking down at the direction she just came from. After a solid five minutes of fighting with himself he grabbed the bag from beneath the chair and headed to her room.

The walk to her room was long and he passed her father on the way there.
"Ah, Katsuki," he said, running his hand through his hair. He seemed jittery, his face pale. His dress shirt sleeves were pushed up and his glasses were missing.
He looked like a nervous wreck.
"She's, uh, she's back asleep for now. They said it was really close. To think her brother after all these years... and Miwako's death... now Awako," he fumbled his words, before wiping his eyes.
"But she's okay. After all that she had in her system she's okay."
He placed his hand on Katsuki's shoulder, giving him a shaky smile as he said "Thank you for toughening her up."
Katsuki stayed silent, his gaze moving to his feet.
"A-Anyway, I have to make a phone call," he said, before moving past him.
~
She was sleeping with her back to him, the steady beeping of the heart monitor the only sound in the room. Her right arm was bandaged up completely and her hair was tied up in a messy bun, revealing bandages around her neck.
