that smile that would linger
on my breath,
hours after you'd left it there,
vanished.
and your eyes
no longer sought out mine,
and your words
no longer sounded sweet.
and what was i supposed to do,
when the threads you had used
to patch up my wings,
started to unravel,
and tangle,
and wind around my neck
like a noose.
you left me breathless again.
but this time,
choking on your lies.
