Left Behind

She sat in a room
With all of her friends.
Her heart was breaking,
But nobody knew.

Tears threatened to fall,
But she wouldn't let them.
Instead, she faked a smile,
And fooled them all.

She sat in silence,
Mute and broken.
Her friends didn't notice,
Her nonstop self-violence.

They laughed and talked,
While she was trapped in her mind.
Haunted by lethal thoughts,
Her entire world was rocked.

Feeling so much pain,
And so much agony,
With no one to save her,
And only herself to blame.

Her friends didn't notice,
When she started to fall.
And they didn't see her,
When she reached her lowest.

No longer knowing what else to do,
She got up from her chair,
And she left the room.
She knew what she had to do.

Her friends never noticed her presence,
And they didn't know where she'd gone.
She went out to the woods,
And gave them the gift of her absence.

She grabbed a rope,
And climbed up a tree.
She cried one last time,
Before giving up hope.

All of her friends cried,
At her funeral later on.
They never noticed her presence,
But cared when she died.
