"Everyone, this is Aspen. Some of you may have met Shane by now, this is his daughter." Glenn introduced me to the group.

"Hi." I blushed and awkwardly smiled down at my feet. " Nice to meet ya'll."

A blonde haired girl came up to me. "Hi! I'm Amy. Nice to meet you!" I held my hand out for a handshake, but she wrapped me in a hug. "My sister's Andrea, who's right over there." She waved to a girl with the same blonde hair. "Andrea, come meet Aspen."

Andrea walked up to me. "Hello. i guess you met my sister?" She laughed. "She gets a little excited when new people show up. She was very social before this, and it's killing her not meeting new people everyday." She looked at her little sister with a huge smile on her face as she playfully ruffled her sister's hair. Amy stuck her tongue out. They both waved goodbye and walked away.

The next person to stop by was a older woman with short grey hair with her daughter who looked to be about 11 or 12. "Hello. My name's Carol, and this is my daughter Sophia. Sophia shyly waved at me. "My husband Ed is around here somewhere, but I just wanted to stop by and say hi." She looked behind her as I heard someone scream her name. I looked past Carol and saw a man storming up to her

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" He stormed up to her and grabbed her upper arm tightly.

"Sophia, go play with Carl." Carol said quietly as Sophia scampered off. "I'm sorry Ed, I was just greeting Aspen. She got here late last night."

"Did I tell you you could stop your chores and come say hello to-to- this girl?" He looked at me and I could tell he was drunk. "What was that?!" He turned on Carol.

"No." She whispered.

"I didn't think so." He said as he pulled his arm back and slapped her across her face. Carol fell back.

"Hey! Stop!" I ran over to them and got in between him and Carol. "Don't touch her."

Ed gave me a confused look that quickly turned into anger. "Don't tell me what to do little girl!" he pulled his arm back again, but this time to hit me. I squeezed my eyes close and prepared for the impact, but it never came. I opened my eyes as I heard a grunt. I saw that Glenn had tackled Ed and was holding his arms back. Ed was double the size of Glenn, but since he was drunk, it was easy for Glenn to keep him down.

"Glenn! What happened here!" My dad ran onto the scene. I looked at him and noticed his face was flushed and his shirt wasn't buttoned all the way. As I looked behind me in the direction where he came from, I noticed Lori slinking out of the woods and heading down to the pond, away from everyone. No! Carl was right! Lori doesn't care that her husband is dead, she's fooling around with my dad! How could she?! That little piece of...

"Aspen! Hello! Are you brain dead?!" I snapped out of my thoughts as I realized Dad was talking to me. "What happened here?"

"Glenn introduced me to everyone and Ed came in drunk, and hit Carol. I stepped in between them and Ed almost hit me. Then Glenn tackled him and held him down. It was nice of you to finally show up." He gave me a death glare, and turned to face everyone.

"This is not acceptable! Ed needs to be put under control. Carol, you need to watch your husband closer." And with that he stormed off. That ass! He's blaming Carol for this! He was having sex with Lori while I almost got hit and then he comes in and has the nerve to blame Carol?! Rick wouldn't have done that... I walked up to where Glenn was sitting on the ground. He had a scratch on his face, but that's about it.

"Thanks." I said meekly as I helped him up. "You didn't have to do that."

He looked at me like I had just grown three heads. "Are you kidding me? Of course I had to do that! You need to be protected!"
