Chapter I

Day 7. (2014.012.25)

If I was able to go back in time and tell myself about the events of the past week and tell myself what was about to happen to me in only a few hours, I would've never believed my future self. I thought it to be impossible to uncover what I did. And because of this uncovering I had to, and still am on the run. Maybe one day I will be able to go back to Seoul. But for now I hide in Busan, waiting for a boat to Jeju Island, and then the first flight to the Eastern Capital of Asia. Or at least that is what the name means. Looking out the window of the cab to the dock reminded me of my childhood. The seas were so close all the time that I could smell the salty air constantly. I remembered back to all of the times that I played in the ocean with my brothers and sisters, and when I went with friends to hangout in middle and high school. The neighbourhood hasn't changed a bit, and all the people that I knew from years ago are still here. And that was the problem...if someone was to recognise me here they would most likely report me to the Police and I'd be back in Seoul before day's end. It was only a few years ago that I was a senior in high school right here in my hometown of Busan. I was tempted to return to my school, return to my old house, return to the old way. But that went out the window a week ago. Now I was a wanted person. The Government of Korea put a 1.2 million won bounty for my capture. I could not run the risk of being captured and disappearing just because I wanted to visit the high school I attended. The cab driver was flipping through the radio stations in the car, he stopped however on the news station. Who was reporting on increased hostilities with the North Korean Government "Typical!" I thought. "When are we not about to go to war with North Korea?" The report was citing the war of music that occurs at the DMZ, where the North Koreans play their propaganda, and we blast K-Pop and criticism of the Kim Family and their "Communist" Regime.
