After a welcome invitation, Amber showed up at Phoenix's door with her cat-covered sleepover bag. After a quick hug, the two went to Phoenix's room.
"Hey, Phe." Amber asked, using one of her nicknames for the short-haired preteen. "Where's Scar?"
Phoenix smiled. "She's on that Gradventure trip the 8th graders go on every year, so it's just us tonight! Awesome, right?" Then she remembered her big box of toys. "Hey, we should play with the toys!" After Amber agreed with her, the two sat down and played for awhile.
"Phoenix, I've got an idea." Amber said mischeviously.
"Yeah, what is it?" Phoenix responded.
"Let's pull out everything -and i mean EVERYTHING- in this room and throw it on the floor!!"
"Hmmmmm...... that seems like something a responsible parent wouldn't let you do....... good thing I'm your insane friend!"
They both laughed at Phoenix's reference to one of their favorite shows. Then, the chaos started. They pulled out toys, clothes, pillows, stuffed animals, and everything they could find and threw it on the floor. By the time they were done, no carpet could be seen at all.
Amber flopped on the bed. "Wow, that was fun!"
Yawning, Phoenix agreed. "Yeah, but now I'm hungry."
Then, right on cue, Phoenix's mom called the two for dinner. After eating an awesome meal cooked by Mrs. Merscape, the two preteens realized how tired they were. Mrs. Merscape did, too, and sent them to bed.
That night, after they were asleep, an older girl came through the door. Exhausted and dehydrated, she went to the kitchen for a glass of water. Gulping it down in three gulps, she immediately got herself another glass and drank that one rather quickly, too. She went to the hallway where Phoenix's room was, then turned right to her older brother's room.
However, she ignored his curtain-door and faced the small wall next to it. There was a door and three pullout stairs hidden below it. She left the pullout stairs hidden so she wouldn't wake anyone up with their noisiness, and opened the door to reveal more stairs. She went up the stairs, shutting the door behind her.
The next morning, Amber and Phoenix woke up to the mess they made last night. Realizing they should probably clean this up before Mrs. Merscape finds out, they picked up everything they threw on the floor. After a breakfast of cereal and toast, the girls went to Phoenix's keyboard.
"Hey, Phoenix! What can you play on here?" Amber asked.
"Lots of things! Do you want to hear something?" Phoenix responded. Amber nodded. Phoenix played several pieces from Undertale, a game they were both fans of. Afterwards, Amber had an idea.
"Shouldn't your sister be back by now?" She asked.
"Yeah, actually. Do you want to go wake her up?"
"Of course!"
So the mischevious duo went to the wall next to Phoenix's brother's curtain-door. After pulling out the bottom stairs, they opened the door and climbed the stairs. They were greeted with an art studio Phoenix's sister, Scarlett, liked to call an "organized mess." Near the top of the stairs, there was a door that lead to a bathroom. On the opposite side of the room was another door.
The girls opened the door to reveal a Pokémon-themed bedroom. In the bed was a teenager with long, dark brown hair. Despite it being noon, she was still asleep. But not for long.
"SCARLETT, WAKE UP!!!" Amber yelled. Scarlett turned around so that she didn't face the noise.
"Just gimme five more minutes......" Scarlett said sleepily. Then she sat up, realizing who was talking. "Wait, Beri? Why are YOU here?" She asked, awake but confused.
"Oh, I invited her over last night." Phoenix said, glaring at her older sister.
Scarlett's stomach growled. "Well, either way, I need breakfast. I never ate dinner last night!" She said, climbing out of bed. The trio went downstairs for more food.
Scarlett cooked eggs for herself and Amber. Phoenix said she didn't want any. However, after seeing how well they had been cooked, she begged her sister for some.
"Dude, I already made the eggs. I'm not making more." Scarlett said, annoyed with her sister's indesiciveness.
"Pleeease?" Phoenix pleaded.
"Fine. You can have some of mine. Next time, though, just say yes when I offer!"
Afterwards, the girls sat in the living room and watched TV. They were waiting for Amber's grandma's response to if the sisters could stay the night at Amber's house. After she said yes, Scarlett and Phoenix's dad drove them over to Amber's house.
