After class ended we had another period until our first break of the day commenced. I strolled up to the third floor, and to the benches where my friends and I always sit. I lay down on the cushioned bench, trying to catch up on some much-needed rest. As I'm dozing off into dreamland about Justin Bieber my peaceful sleep is interrupted by a heavy-weight plopping down onto my stomach.
"Oomph" exits my mouth due to natural response, but I don't even open an eye as I continue,
"Whoever is sitting on me better move their fat ass or else I will find you in your sleep and end you." I hear the voice of Sloan respond with the nickname my friends constantly call me,
"Sorry Corn, can't move what I don't have." Laughing at the roast on herself, I push her off me and sit up, opening my eyes. I blink at the light shining through my sensitive line of sight for a few seconds before Sloan questions,
"Want to go get some food?"
"Do you even have to ask? When have I ever turned down food." I respond as I move to grab my bag. Sloan and I make our way down the hallway towards the stairs, but before we can reach the entryway of the stairs we pass a room with a group of guys and girls in it. I glance in and see Tucker in the room laughing at something someone said. I look away quickly when I feel a slight pinch in my chest seeing this scene, knowing I wasn't the one making him laugh.
"Weird." I mutter under my breath while rubbing my hand over my heart and shaking my head left and right a few times. I've never had this feeling before even with my old boyfriend who I was irrevocably in love with. 'Probably just heartburn.' I think to myself. Sloan who noticed me looking at Tuck states,
"Corn I really don't understand why you don't go up and try to talk to him more. He's sweet, attractive, and I even heard that Alex wanted to be a thing with him, but he wasn't feeling it anymore, so they broke it off."
"Eh, I don't know." I respond as we reach the cafeteria and go inside to grab some breakfast since it's only 10 A.M. I buy some captain crunch, while Sloan gets a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. We sit down at one of the tables in the cafeteria and I take a few bites of the crunchy goodness before I continue,
"I mean if Alex wasn't good enough for him, how am I supposed to live up to his standards?! HAVE YOU SEEN HIS EX?" Looking around I realize a few people are staring at me for yelling that really loudly, but in the corner of my eye, I see Sloan snickering.
"Oh shut up." I tell her. Grabbing my phone I use my fingerprint to unlock the rose gold colored machine and go to my "favorites" folder, opening Instagram. I search up Tucker's ex's profile and click on one of her pictures.
"Look at this! She's literally stunning and has the body of a Victoria's Secret Angel, how the hell am I supposed to compete with that?! I look like a fucking potato!" I exit out of the picture scrolling through the rest of her old pictures until I see a picture of her, Tucker, and one of their friends together from a year ago. Though we aren't even dating, let alone really good friends the picture is just too much for me, I don't understand why. But anyways I close the app and look up and realize Sloan is saying something.
"Corinne don't compare yourself to either of those two girls, there's a reason that Tucker and them are broken up and not together anymore. Plus you're a catch. You are gorgeous, well in a satanic kind of way, but nonetheless, you're hilarious and anyone would be lucky to date you."
"Awwww thanks slor, it means a lot." I say leaning over and giving her a one armed hug.
"No problem bitch." She responds.
"So now onto your love life, how's Noah?"
"Don't even get me started." She groans out.
"Still a dick?"
