Chapter 11

A few days later...

Riker POV

Well today was the day. The day I go to Ava's, and she tells her dad the truth about that party.

I was nervous. But the only reason for that was because I was scared Ava would chicken out, and I'd be awkwardly standing there, not knowing what to say or do.

But we'll just have to see, I guess.

I pulled on some black skinny jeans, a blue button up shirt, my leather jacket, and some converse. I put on my glasses, and did my hair all nice.

Hopefully I remember how to be proper and all that good stuff.

I got in my car, and drove to Ava's. She was waiting for me at the front door, and she let me in. She led me into the living room. Her dad was sitting in there, reading something. And the second we walked in, he gave me a very disapproving look, and I started feeling really nervous inside.

Ava sat down on one of the couches, grabbed my hand, and pulled me down next to her.

"Dad, I have something to tell you," Ava said.

She was squeezing my hand tight now.

"Well what is it? I don't have all day. What's he doing here?"

I'm pretty sure my whole body was trembling now.

"Riker is here because it wasn't his fault he got arrested."

Her dad rolled his eyes. He shut his book, giving Ava his full attention now.

"Well go on. This should be good," he said.

I could sense Ava getting even more nervous next to me.

"I um... Ok, well the night of the party... Riker wasn't the only one there."

"Mhmmm... Who else was there?"

"I was... And I sort of maybe possibly had a few drinks."

"Ava-"

"No, I'm not done yet! Let me finish!"

Her dad sat back in his chair, waiting patiently for her to continue.

"I was a bit... drunk... I had asked Riker to go to the party with me, but he said no. We were planning on having a movie night, but I wanted to go to the party, so I cancelled on him. He thought I was lying, so he showed up at the party to take me home. But right as he got there, the police started showing up. He helped me escape out a window, but the police caught him before he could leave, and he got arrested. Please approve Riker as my boyfriend again. He did nothing wrong. He was trying to save me. I should've been the one to get arrested."

"Ava, I am very disappointed in you."

"I know..."

"Riker can be approved as your boyfriend again, but you're not allowed to see him for 2 weeks. You're grounded. Please show Riker to the door, and then go to your room."

"Yes, dad..."

Ava brought me to the front door.

"I told him. You happy?" She asked, kind of annoyed.

"Yeah. We get to be together now."

"In 2 weeks."

"Yeah... In 2 weeks... But that's better than never, right?"

"Right. Thanks for coming over, Riker. I could've never done that alone."

"I'm just glad you actually did it. I was scared of you chickening out."

"Yeah, so was I... He's going to take my phone and laptop..."

"I'm sorry..."

"No, it was my fault... I went to the stupid party..."

I sighed.

"So... I guess I'll see you in 2 weeks?" I asked.

"Yup... 2 weeks."

I put my hands on her waist, and pulled her to me. I kissed her softly. I could feel her smiling against my lips.

"Alright you two. Finish up. Ava, get upstairs," her dad said.

My cheeks flushed red.

"2 weeks," I said.

"Yup."

Ava gave me one last kiss, and then disappeared inside. I walked back to my car, and got in. I drove back home, smiling.

I went inside, and flopped on my bed, feeling like I was in a good mood for once.

"Hey. How'd it go?" Rydel asked, walking into the room.

"Good. She told her dad, so now I just have to wait 2 weeks."

"2 weeks? For what?"

"To see her."

"Why?"

"Oh, she got grounded. But it's ok because her dad approved me again! I'm good at being a good person and faking being proper!"

Rydel laughed.

"What?" I asked.

"Do you hear yourself?"

"What?"

"You're just... Nothing..."

She shook her head.

"What?" I asked, again.

"Nothing, Rik. Nothing... I'm glad things got worked out."

"Me too!"
