Chapter 6

Later...

Riker POV

I was feeling so frustrated. And apparently my family noticed something was wrong, and they kept asking me what was wrong, which only made me more annoyed.

"Riker," Rydel said, coming in my bedroom.

"What!?" I yelled, annoyed.

She looked at me weirdly, probably because I don't shout often.

"Sorry... What?" I asked, calmer.

"I just wanted to know what you wanted for Christmas. It's getting close now."

"Rydel... All I want for Christmas is Ava. I don't care about anything else. I just want Ava."

"So... I'm guessing the dinner date thing didn't go too well then."

"No, it didn't... Her dad doesn't like me. And I even ate snails!"

"What?"

"Long story... Um... I don't know what I want. Just Ava. That's my Christmas wish."

Rydel nodded slowly.

"Well... I guess we'll see what we can do about that then..."

"Thanks..."

Rydel left. I decided I wanted to go to bed. So I changed into my pjs, and then slipped under the covers. And I fell asleep.

A few days later...

Riker POV

I was feeling really miserable lately. I just wanted Ava as my girlfriend, and I was frustrated that her dad couldn't just accept me. I kept moping around the house, and everyone would try to talk to me. But they couldn't make me feel better. Only Ava could.

Ava hadn't texted me since the dinner fail... I was beginning to wonder if she even still wanted to be my girlfriend anymore or not.

"Riker?" Rydel asked, standing in my doorway.

"What?"

"Ava's here."

"What!?"

Ava came into my room, and shut the door. I felt my cheeks go red. I was wearing my pjs, my hair was a mess, and I was still in bed.

"H-hi," I said, nervously.

"Hey," she said, sitting on the end of my bed.

"Why are you here? Sorry I look like this..."

"It's fine, Riker. I came over to talk to you."

"About what?"

"About us."

"Oh..."

"Don't say it like that. I've been thinking of things we could do to get my dad to approve you."

"Ava, if eating snails wasn't enough, I don't know what I can do."

Ava laughed.

"Well I have a few ideas for you. So my dad didn't have a problem with the way you dressed, so we're keeping the look we made for you. The thing he has a problem with is your career, and the fact that you're in a crazy band."

"So? It's not like I can change that."

"I know. You're going to show him that being in a band isn't so bad."

"How?"

"Well... I was thinking about this... You can show up at my house one day with a guitar, and you can sing me a song in front of my dad. It'll hopefully show him that you're a really good guy, even though you didn't go to college and all that."

"Do you think it'll work?"

"It's worth a shot, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

"So do you have any songs in mind?"

"Uh... Well actually, I was thinking maybe I could write one."

"Oh, ok. Cool."

"Yeah, and I could make it Christmas themed since it's almost Christmas."

"That would be awesome, Riker!"

"Ok... The song might take me a few days."

"That's fine. Come over when you're ready."

"I'll try to be ready by Christmas Eve, ok?"

"That's only 3 days, though."

"I know. I think I can do it. Sometimes it's easy to write a song. You just need inspiration. And that's where you come in."

"Aw."

"I really hope this works. I hate being away from you. And the more I see you, the more I fall for you."

I took her hands in mine, and pulled her close to me. I kissed her softly, and I literally felt sparks.

I'm in love.

We pulled away. I could see the love in Ava's eyes, and I was glad that she loved me too.

"So I already got you a Christmas present," Ava said.

"Oh really? What'd you get me?"

"I'm not telling! You have to wait until Christmas!"

"Ok, fine..."

"Did you get me anything yet?"

"No. But I know what I'm getting you already."

"Really?"

"I ordered it online, and it's supposed to come tomorrow. So... I'll have it tomorrow. But you can't have it until Christmas."

"Yeah, well obviously."

I leaned forward, and kissed her again. We pulled apart, and Ava wrapped her arms around me. I did the same, holding her close.

"I love you," I whispered.

"I love you too, Riker. And hopefully, my dad will too in a few days..."

"Yeah, I hope so..."

"Alright. Well I actually have to get going. I told my dad I had to go get something from a friend, and he's going to wonder where I am. I'll see you on Christmas Eve then, right?"

"Yup!"

"Alright. Bye, Riker."

"Wait! One more kiss!"

Ava laughed. I pulled her close to me again, and our lips met.

"Alright. Bye, Riker."

"Bye!"

I watched out my window as Ava left. I felt my heart beating faster than usual just because I felt so in love.

Now, to work on that song...
