thunderstorms

Its storming in Ohio.

It had been raining all day, all week really. But today the clouds have got thicker and darker and the forecasters are calling for a storm.

Tyler was scared of storms, has been for as long as he can remember. So naturally all day he's been antsy. Josh has tried to calm his nerves but nothing seemed to worked.

*time skip~ 10 pm*

"Ty, wanna go to bed?" Josh asked after their third episode of Supernatural.

"What? O-oh ya sure" tyler answered glanced nervously at the window, seeing it being pounded with rain.

Josh looked at him with concern, seeing him so nervous, but shrugged it off.

They walked to their bedroom changing into some pj's and climbing into bed, cuddling closely, tyler being the little spoon.

The rain seemed to be coming down harder now, sheets hitting the window and the howling wind making the windows creak. The night seemed thunder and lighting free till a flash of light and...

Crack

the first bit of thunder. Tyler jumped slightly, making josh wake from his half-asleep daze.

"You okay ty?"

"Ya just a bit scared, thats all."

Josh thought that was good enough. Laying his head back down and gently playing with the smaller boy's hair.

Josh was about to fall asleep when another boom of thunder sounded and tyler jumped, whimpering quietly.

This won't do. Josh thought, he couldnt let ty be scared all night and they both needed sleep.

He got up off the bed. Tyler looking at him worridly not wanting to be left alone.

"I'll be right back honey" josh asurred the boy. Kissing him on his cheek lightly. And with that, left the room.

What was he doing? Tyler thought thought while trying to calm his breathing. He was buried in the pile of covers and almost completely calm when he saw another flash of lightning, bracing himself for the roar of thunder that would make it to the doe-eyed boy's ears.

All that could he heard in the small apartment was the sound of thunder and the rain, and whatever josh was doing in the living room.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity to the small boy, he heard josh's light footsteps make their way back to their bedroom.

"Petal?"

"Ya joshy?" Tyler said while peaking out of the covers

"I have a surprise, something that will hopefully make you less scared and for us to get some rest."

Tyler pealed off the covers, padding over to were josh was standing, taking his hand and walking towards the living room.

When they both got there, Tyler's eyes were met with the prettiest sight he has ever seen.

A fort, blankets and pillows, big enough for them both to fit comfortably, lined with fairy lights and josh's laptop set up in the middle.

"So I figured if we have a fort it will make you feel saver, cause its like were own little world... ya know" josh explained looking over at tyler to make sure he liked the idea.

"Oh my, josh I love it!" Tyler exclaimed wrapping his arms around josh, in a warm hug and quickly making his way to the fort, josh trailing behind him.

Once they were both comfortably laying down with the their pillows all situated and both cuddling with their legs intertwined.

The two boys closed their eyes immediately, tired from the day before. The first strike of lightning struck, thunder rumbling through the soft walls of the fort. Tyler only jumped slightly, calming down much quicker, encased in the smell and warmth of josh and the soft light of the fairy lights lulling him to sleep, the storm outside his and josh's little universe forgotten.

Calm.
