The Reaping

Hey guys! sorry that I didn't upload in a while. I've been busy with school. I don't want to go through twelve to sixteen, so I'm gonna do a summary of what happened the past few years. COMMENT! FAN ME! VOTE! DO SOMETHING ELSE LIKE EATING SOMETHING! :D

Arianna's POV

I wake up early and start dreaming about the past few years. I woke up from a deep sleep. I met the Mellark family, the Hawthore family, Madge's family, and the Everdeen family. Peeta and I gave bread to Katniss and Gale. Trade at the Hob. Go to school. Eat. Sleep. Find Prim a birthday present. Find several other people a birthday present. When I finish from daydreaming, I wake up and put on a maroon knee-lengh dress. I put on some black flats and a maroon headband with a little flower on it. I exit my room to find Peeta in the kitchen making breakfast.

"Hey, why did you break into my house?" I ask childishly.

"I didn't. Your the one who gave me the note that said , 'Peeta Mellark is allowed into my house at all times'." He turns around wearing a white shirt and black pants. His hair is neatly combed back and he has a warm smile on.

"What's the occasion?" I ask dumbly.

"You know. Don't be an idoit."

"I choose to act dumb. Would you rather have a boring friend or a more interesting friend?"

"I'd rather have a smart friend that is-"

I cut him off by yelling, "YOU HAVE NO PROOF OF ANYTHING!"

"What?"

"Exactly. Now cmon, we have some spare time before the reaping. It isn't until two o' clock, so we have an hour to waste." We eat our breakfast and start walking around town. I start to head over to Madge's house to say hi. When we get there there's no answer. I shrug it off and we start heading to the square. Even though we have thirty more minutes, it's already filled with people. we check in and we take our places. I spot Katniss and walk over to her.

"Hi Katniss. How's it going?" Ever since i came here, I caught Peeta staring at her about fifteen time a week.

"Okay. How's it going on your side?" she says plainly.

"Well, it's about as dull and boring as my brother talking about Casy Kifferman. She was the most popular girl in school from where I came from." Katniss smiles and we both wish eachother good luck. I walk back to my spot and soon the reaping begins.

The mayor and Effie Trinket sit quietly in their seats while one stays empty. Then the mayor begins to speak.

"It is both a time for repentance and a time for thanks." the mayor begins as. Then he read the past winning victors. One remains. Haymitch Abernathy, who is a drunken mess, staggers onto the stage. He takes his seat next to Effie Trinket and tries to give Effie a hug. I think it's funny that her so called pink hair is shifted off to the right. The mayor gets back our attention by introducing Effie Trinket. She trots to the microphone like a pixy fairy and says her signature line,

"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds ever be in your favor!" Her wig has now shifted extremly off to the right. "Ladies first!" she says brightly. She digs deep into the large round glass ball and pulls out a slip. then she reads the name out in a clear voice. Primrose Everdeen.

I look over at Prim, her face as white as the clouds on a sunny day. Then I look at her family. Completly filled with horror. The next thing that happens is something I didn't see coming. I step out of the crowd of sixteen year olds and clearly say, "I volunteer as tribute."

Who saw that coming? I did! If you did to then you just bursted my bubble. Sorry that this chapter was short, i'll try to make longer chapters. FAN ME! COMMENT! VOTE!
