Wow.
THE Corey Haim thought I was beautiful. Well I mean, he didn't say it to my face, but apparently he had a look, and that HAS to count for something. I was lost in my Corey Haim filled thoughts when I heard a snap.
"You okay?" River asked.
"Uh, yea, I was just thinking," I replied, still not fully out of my daydreams.
"Disregarding last night, I don't think I've ever seen you around. Are you new around here or something? He asked.
"Oh, yea, I, I'm visiting here from um Nashville. Yea I'm visiting my uhm aunt," I said, hurrying to find a believable lie. Which I really do have an aunt, but she is the one that lives in Nashville.
He frowned and slowly nodded,"Okay, well I could walk you to the store if you want me to," he shrugged. "I don't have anything better to do, and it really looks like you need a pal," he said, dragging out the really, making me sound like a complete loser, which in reality I totally was. BUT. Maybe I wasn't. I mean I am technically a time traveler, therefore all of you calling me a loser can fight me, and my time traveling skillz.
"Oh, well, I would really appreciate that," I said dragging out the really, mocking him and walking to the door, making it look like I was cool, and I knew where I was going, but as I walked out the door I went left instead of right making me look like a fool.
"Uh this way Valerie," he said in a sing-song voice.
"Yup, I knew that," I said, turning on my heels, catching up to him. "You can call me Val btw."
"BTW?" He questioned.
"Oh uhm, by the way," I replied, realizing my mistake. It's the 80's man. They didn't have acronyms yet like btw or lol or the dreaded bae.
"Oh, I see. Well in that case you can call me Rio," he smiled.

After about 10 minutes of walking and small talk, we finally arrived at the much needed clothing store. According to the bright red and yellow sign it was, indeed, called Clothes & Thangs.
"Well here we are madam," he gestured to the door. "Maybe I'll see you around sometime," he shrugged.
"Woah, woah, woah, aren't you coming in with me?" I asked.
"We only just met. Why on earth would I go clothes shopping with you?" He asked, frowning.
"Well, you see, Nashville clothing is much, much different from California clothing. Since your my only friend here, and your from California, I was hoping you could give me some Cali fashion tips," I smiled my best "pretty pretty pretty please" smile. Part of me really did need some 80's fashion advice, but also part of me wanted him to stick around for the company. He seemed like a pretty nice guy.
"You consider us friends?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Well yea. You seem like a good dude. And I also really like your glasses," I pointed to his circular frames.
"Well thank you," he nodded. He looked up at the building and then back at me. "Okay, I guess I can help you out a little bit," he shrugged.
Oh boy, 80's clothes shopping with River Phoenix. This was gonna be fun.
