The Warriors Three

Bilgesnipe Hunting

            “Hey Thor, are you ready to go to Vanaheim?” Sif asked.

            “Of course, I’ll go find my brother.”

            “I bet I’ll catch the Bilgesnipe first.” Fandral boasted.

            “Of course you will.” Sif rolled her eyes.

            “Or they’ll hear you and attack.” Hogun added.

            Fandral ignored their teasing and led them to the Bifrost to meet Thor and Loki; they got on their horses and rode to across the rainbow bridge until they stopped in front of Heimdall. They walked towards him and he looked at them as they approached.

            “You wish to go to Vanaheim.” He stated.

            “May we pass?” Thor asked.

            “Of course.”

            Heimdall led them inside and told them about the rules of sending them to another realm and opened the Bifrost. They were sucked into it and beamed to Vanaheim within a matter of seconds, Volstagg stumbled a little as they landed and they looked around at their clearing they always landed in.

            “It’s good to be back, I love hunting season!” Fandral exclaimed with a dramatically large intake of breath.

            “Careful I heard if you breathe in too much you’ll explode.” Thor joked.

            “Really? I heard if you don’t breath you’ll suffocate.” He replied.

            “If I may interrupt this important conversation, I’d like to point out that the Bilgesnipe won’t just walk up and let us kill them.” Loki said.

            They went into the forest and Hogun used his tracking skills to follow a recent trail that had been left by their target. They continued following the path until they felt the ground tremble beneath them, looking around they didn’t see anything until Volstagg turned around and yelled in surprise. The others turned to see what he was screaming at and saw a Bilgesnipe snorting and charging towards them.

            “Run!” Sif shouted.

            “No, we can fight it!” Thor argued.

            “Thor think, it’s too big and it’s calling for the rest of the herd.” Loki said backing away.

            More Bilgesnipe started to appear and they charged after the first one as Fandral led the others back the way they came. While they had to duck and go around trees though, the Bilgesnipe just crashed through them, they started to gain on the Asgardians and Loki made a smoke screen appear behind them. Bilgesnipe might be strong and large but they weren’t smart which meant the smoke screen would confuse them long enough to get away.

            “One of them is still on our tail!” Volstagg shouted.

            “I’ll handle it.” Thor told them while throwing his hammer at it.

            His hammer struck the beast right between the eyes and it shook its head in pain before charging at him. Thor summoned lightning and hit the Bilgesnipe again making it trip over it’s own feet and fall, Sif took out her sword and helped him finish it off before it could get back up.

            “Well at least we won’t go home empty handed.” Fandral remarked.

            “Hey Sif was right, you didn’t kill it though.” Volstagg said.

“Let’s just not do this again.” Loki sighed as they were beamed back home.
