Carpcrapcrapcrap.I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm dead.
I'm sooooo dead.
okay, I'll tell you the story, but I -ah, blacked out a little we were all sitting around the campfire, roasting marsh mellows, (actually Nikki and I were forced to go by Will, Nico always goes now, mainly 'cuz he can hold hands with Will in the dark (gross love)) as I said, we were all sitting around the campfire, Chiron was giving announcements or something, when I heard the crackle of thunder, I figured it was Jason playing some practical joke or something, but Jason looked just as concerned as everyone else. As you know weather pass around us normally, but this weather didn't look natural, it looked supernatural in fact (no not TV show) something was off, I brought my gaze back to the fire. When there was a gasp. Everyone turned, Hestia's the hearth, the one that's always burning, magically, was out. "This is not good" Chiron mumbles, "fires out, big deal." Percy says from two rows in front of me. I was sitting in the very back row as far away from people and the fire. "It is a big deal seaweed brain!" Annabeth called whom was sitting next to him. "that fire is connected to the life force Hestia!'' Annabeth said frantically, I had to admit, I was impressed most campers didn't know a thing about Hestia, I only knew because Nico was close friends with her, and he introduced Nikki and I to her. She walks around looking the age of a eight year old. She was a very kind goddess easy to talk to, but easy to ignore. This panicked me...a goddess missing? Last time a god went missing, Artemis...two campers died.
When I heard scruffy voice, that nearly made me jump out of my skin, a hissing sound, the sound of snakes. I looked around trying to figure out where it had come from. Our oracle friend Miss Dare, was spewing green smoke again, great. Now, I'd know what in Hades was going on because this actually happens pretty regularly like once a month or so, but like not that whole "great prophecy" things. The rough, sandpaper like voice of the oracle spoke,
"Children of Hades, find the flame,
Not without suffering the pain,
six will go east, and once again gain
daughter of seafoam, daughter of wisdom,
failure without letting go of their flaw,
a sword of black she shall draw."The creepy withered corpse-voice of the spirit of Delphi had finally stopped, Rachel shook her head, and imeadiatly passed out. Me, doing the same. Children of Hades, that's clearly Nico Nikki and I, I'm not ready for this, I'm only twelve! But then again, at twelve Percy returned Zeus's master bolt, and Nico...he, he fought in a war....this should be easy right?
Wrong.
-------
Heard the hushed sound of campers, Will, and other Apollo kids most likely,I awoke once again in the infirmary, I began to attempt to stand up, but was shoved back by a familiar pair of hands.
Will looked at me gravely,
"How long?" I ask, my voice scratchy,
"Only a couple hours." He responds, I look out the window, and see the moonlight shining through. i squint at the light. "You leave for the quest tomorrow."
"Who else is going?" I ask,
"Well, you, Nikki, Evie volunteered, Skylar, since she'd the only daughter of Poseidon and all, I think Percy was realived to pass the prophecy to his younger sister. Nico..." His voice trails off, "and me."
"Will! That's great!" I spring from my infirmary bed and tackled him in a hug.
"No its not! I'm a medic not a soldier or a fighter like you." He pointed at me.
"That doesn't' mean you won't be helpful in the quest!"I yell. He stops, seems to consider this, before sighing, and saying, "I suppose your right, someone's gotta make sure Neeks doesn't do something dumb." I laugh, but don't mean it, what if something dose happen, the worry wells up in my chest, I was scared.Scared that something would happen to one of us, scared I would fail in battle, scared I would let Nico down, but terrified of the journey that lie ahead.
"You have to promise me..." I say, holding out my pinky, Will rolls his eyes as if I were the childish one. "That you'll keep Nico, Nikki and Skylar safe, and for a good a measure, Evie, I hate to see my sister sad..." Will looked worried, sucked in his breath,
"Aly, you know that this won't end well,..."
"Do you swear?!" I yell, probably shouldn't have, I mean patients and such sleeping, but I couldn't help it. He sighs again,
"I-i swear on the river Styx." He wrapped his pinky around mine and shook it.Nikki's POV:
I have to admit, I was terrified of the quest we were about to go on. Like after Alex passed out, I ran back to our cabin and started rocking back and forth on my bed. (Wimp) (says the one who passed out from fear) I heard the door open and looked up, slightly to find myself staring into the beautiful, grey eyes of my best friend/crush. She sat down next to me and whispered soothing words in my ears. I couldn't hear what she was saying because I was too caught up in my thoughts and fears, but I heard her voice and that was all that mattered.
Eventually, Nico walked in and said, "Hey, Nikki, Alex's awake if you, ya know, wanted to see her." I must've looked pretty shaken up, though, because Nico-Nico, of all people-sat down on my other side and started saying things like, "Hey, Niks, it's all gonna be okay, you're gonna be fine." But I wasn't worried about myself, no I was worried about my friends and family that would be going on the quest too.
At one point, I must've started crying because, when I finally calmed down enough to look in the mirror, my cheeks were stained with tears and my eyes were puffy and swollen. I quickly turned on a sink and washed my face. When I walked back out, Will, Skylar, and Alex were sitting next to Evie and Nico, on my bed. I walked over and sat down, next to Alex and Evie. "So," I said, much calmer than I had been, "we leave tomorrow, huh?"
