It was actually a rather beautiful day out when I woke, which was strange to me. Living in an alienage rarely brought "beautiful" days. Even on the ones that were beautiful, things there seemed grey. But either way, that day I rose feeling quite pleased. I walked out, doing the normal thing. I greeted another of my kind, an elf, and a few elven children that ran by me laughing and playing. It seemed strange to me they could still manage such enjoyment despite the conditions in the alienage. However, my spirits were the same, since it was the day of my marriage. An arranged marriage of course, to a man I had only met once, but it was still a happy day.
I made my way down the path. I was supposed to be collecting my wedding gifts, but I didn't actually feel like talking to any of the other elves around town. So instead I made my way down to the main part of town. Just like the rest, it wasn't much, just a small opening where the elves mainly met to barter. I strolled through, receiving a few smiles and congratulations as I did, but that was cut short when I noticed something strange. One human was standing off to the side by the entrance to the alienage and speaking to our elder, and two others harassing a few women. I wasn't too pleased by the group that had invaded our alienage, and the fact that they came as a group made me all the more uncomfortable. I knew we were more than likely being blamed for yet another of the human's problems.
I wasn't too concerned with the one at the entrance. He was speaking with our elder, so I assumed he'd have things straightened out. However I did step forward and approach the two harassing the women.
"Excuse me," I said politely. Maybe overly so, since I was trying to exaggerate it. "Who exactly are you two?" I asked, and the men turned. They seemed drunk, despite it being so early.
"You don't know us? Oh, I forgot. You're filth of course not." One of them laughed in my face, causing me to step back.
"You're dressed so nicely, yet you obviously fail to bathe. You must be a pathetic excuse for royalty." I scoffed and shook my head. Without a word the one I had spoken to pulled back and struck me. I fell back slightly, but caught myself and held my face.
"Venra!" The elder had stepped back from his conversation and now spoke to me. His voice showed anger, but it wasn't directed at the two men.
"Sir?" I replied with a bit of hate in my voice.
"Leave our guests." He replied, looking away slightly. I knew he didn't actually want me to, but my arguing would only cause more of a problem. As I went to step back, my arm was seized by the man who had hit me.
"I don't think so, old man. We came here to have a little fun, and I think this one will be coming with me," he pulled me forward slightly while the other seized another elven woman. I then felt a rough strike to the back of my head, and remember falling forward. There was a bit of arguing before I lost consciousness completely.
