I woke earlier than the others, but that was no surprise to me. After the dream I had, and Alistair's little sign of affection, I had trouble falling back to sleep in the first place. I rose to find the fire still burning very lightly under the still night sky. I assumed it was left lit because Charlie was curled up next to it, and Azeri wouldn't appreciate him being cold. So I helped the fire along slightly, and looked around to see what I could find and kill. There wasn't much around, the darkspawn had killed or ran off anything of value. Finally after I wondered from the camp a little I found a deer, which I promptly killed, and drug back to camp. By the time I had the poor thing skinned, the sun was rising.
Azeri stepped out of her tent, and looked at me as I began to butcher the animal with a poorly sterilized knife. I hoped it would be fine to use with what I had used. I looked at Azeri as she approached me, yawning as she did. It seemed she had not slept well, if at all. She rubbed her eyes, and looked at me.
"G'morning Ven..." She said quietly, and a little absent as she did.
"Good morning," I replied, smiling at her briefly before turning my attention back to the carved meat before me. "Did you sleep well?"
She leaned over on me slightly before replying, "No... Did you?" She asked, sleepiness heavy in her voice.
"Relatively," I responded, laughing briefly before shrugging her off. She stood straight and looked around and down at Charlie. She made a kissing sound at him then looked back down at what I had done.
"Do you need help?" She asked, her voice forced to become a bit fuller.
"Sure, why don't you begin cooking this. I'll be handing you more in a moment." I told her, and she did so.
"How did you learn to hunt?" She asked as she plopped the meat down in a small pan on a little poorly built rack. Alistair had hastily put it together last night, and he was evidently no carpenter.
"I've a bit of experience. Living in the alienage made it hard to come by good food, so when I was younger my mother gave me books, and when we got the chance she would sneak me out and teach me to hunt." I watched her briefly before noticing Morrgian emerging from her tent. She looked at Azeri and I for a moment before holding hands out and lighting a fire of her own. "How about you go tell Morrigan to come over here?"
"She's mad at me again," Azeri pouted a little, but looked back at Morrigan.
"Why is that?" I chuckled lightly, turning back to hand her a bit more meat.
"I ask too many questions." She replied but stood anyways. She made her way back to the mage, leaving me at the fire myself. I didn't mind that though, I always enjoyed cooking. So I made up the meat, looking back at them a bit and watching as Azeri tried talking to Morrigan. Morrigan didn't seem mad as Azeri thought, just a bit annoyed. Or perhaps hurt. I couldn't place her expression really, but it was not anger. After a moment I watched as Azeri held a hand out. Morrigan seemed reluctant, but she placed her hand in the elf's and allowed herself to be escorted over to the fire, where the meat was nearly done. At around the same time they came to me, Alistair came out of his tent as well, rubbing his eyes and yawning. I looked up at him as he walked straight to me. I hadn't noticed the smile that came to me as soon as I saw him, but when I did I made it go away.
"I've made us breakfast." I said quietly, looking up at him as he slipped arms around my waist.
"Thank you," he replied absently, pulling me into a hug. I felt my cheeks burn a bit at his sudden embrace, but I didn't pull back. I placed hands on his waist and waited until he pulled back. I looked at Azeri and Morrigan, who hadn't been paying any attention to either of us. Azeri was getting a bit of the meat off the fire for Morrigan, who seemed annoyed at it.
