Life lessons. Everyone experiences them. Some lessons are from good things, but they are primarily from negative experiences. Some lessons are obvious until long after it initially happens, some lessons are obvious from the moment it happens. For me, I've experienced negative lessons throughout my life, but from all the negative something positive comes out from it. Without the pain of life, how are we to grow stronger and be better than what we were.
My mother has been a huge influence in my life, be it positive or negative. I've grown to hate her, but I've grown to accept I can't change what has happened but I can hope for a better future with her. When I was born my mother was already a bad influence in my life. She had a habit. This habit was one that was illegal and not healthy for a mother of a child. She had a habit of doing drugs, but due to these tendencies it cause something great for me.
This reward wasn't known until I was much older, I didn't understand what rehab was, I didn't know what it meant when I heard "Your mom isn't okay, that's why she's here." When I was younger hearing that just meant that she was sick and couldn't live with me and my little sister. I never understood until I was in 8th or 9th grade. I just thought that my mom was a deadbeat and left me, my dad, and my sister. I didn't think it was because she had a habit. I just accepted the fact that I can't trust her with promises.
The reward I got was to live with my step-dad, my father, the only father I knew. I've always lived with him and my great grandparents. My life has been hard. It has been painful, it has been tough. Life lessons are from negative and positive aspects in one's life. When a child has experienced pain at young ages they look at the world differently, they see life for what it is. I learned that from my mother's' use of drugs that I should avoid drugs, but besides that I learned that despite all the distrust and hatred, you can always grow to be a better person than the people who has had major impacts on your life.
