"It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate.

I am the captain of my soul."

- William Ernest Henley

. . .

The war against the witches, rogues, and hunters was something that everyone knew about.

It began only a year ago. Witches always were against the werewolves and vampires. They had butchered their kind almost three hundred years ago. However, since then laws had been passed as to save the witches, but they held a grudge. The witches partnered with others that hated the vampire and werewolf packs and clans, the rogues and hunters. Three packs of werewolves had fallen to the war and a vampire clan had nearly been wiped out.

Now four werewolf packs, though, it seems.

"Another one? One was just wiped out two and a half months ago, almost four months after the previous attack. Were there any survivors?" Eli asked, concerned.

Tatum gave a nod, "Indeed, another one. No one survived the attack, just like the previous ones. This isn't happening coincidentally. They are doing this on purpose and the attacks will only become closer and closer together if the past ones have anything to tell us."

Remington stepped forward, "That is why we," he gestured to the other royals, "have come up with a plan to fight back. We can't allow this to continue."

Elissa nodded. There was no way that her brethren, blood-related or not, could be continued to be slaughtered in their homes and a trail of blood that would never end.

It was Rovena's turn to speak.

"We decided to turn to our strongest clan, and for Tatum and Lilliyana, their strongest pack, to ask for help in training the others to fight. The Purebloods have already agreed to comply, as long as you will do it as well."

Rovena trained with the Purebloods a long time ago as a fighter, and she would never ask for their help if the situation wasn't dire.

A sigh escaped Elissa. "That means my forest will become the base for all training, correct? Great, no silence for a couple of weeks."

Lilliyana gave her a hug before turning back to her mate and the vampire king. "You know what that means? Call the clans and the packs. Most of them should be able to get here by morning."

Eli turned towards the door, "I'll talk to the pack and get the spaces ready for them in the third, fourth, and fifth pack houses. The hotels around the town about fifteen miles away should have some space, if not be completely empty. There should be enough space for everyone to squeeze into."

. . .

"Luca, call the pack together, please. The meeting will take place at seven-thirty. I need to talk to the war wolves. Meet you outside in the woods after." Eli told her Beta before heading out into the woods.

War wolf leaders, meet me out in the woods. Quadrant three, by the East Water River. She called out through the mind link that her entire pack shared.

Almost immediately, she got a reply. Yes, Alpha. We will be there shortly.

The Alpha shredded her clothing off before shifting and beginning the journey to quadrant three of the woods. It was one of the quietest areas in the territory and near the center of the hundreds of miles of forest.
