Grandma's room looked like as if a hurricane flew by and destroyed everything. All her things were thrown around. All her classic books were on the floor, scattered. Her rocking chair was knocked over, the blankets were disheveled, the drapes had been torn off from the rod. I also saw that her belongings were covered completely in her blood. It was all over her bed and the floor. Smears of it everywhere. Even the walls and the ceiling were splattered with it. And there, on the floor, Grandma lay on her stomach, motionless.
"Oh, my..." I had to swallow back my vomit.
She lay there on the floor, covered in blood. So much of it. She'd been bludgeoned and stabbed to death.
Everything around me felt like it was moving. Everything was unstable. I pressed my back against the wall and slid down, staring at Grandma. I pressed my other hand against my mouth to keep myself from throwing up. I wanted to stop looking, but I couldn't. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I started to cry.
"I'm sorry," I whispered to her. "I'm so sorry." I pressed my hands against my face and cried even harder. "How could you do this to me, Robbie?!" I screamed.
How could you ruin my life?! You took everything away from me! I screamed inside as I cried.
All of a sudden, my iPhone rang. Wiping away the tears from my face, I answered.
"So, have you checked?" Robbie asked.
The anger built up inside of me. I felt like screaming obscenities at him.
"Robbie, what have you done?! You killed my grandmother!" I screamed.
All he did was chuckle in the background.
"Nice masterpiece I've created in there, huh?"
"Why are you doing this to me?! You've gone too far!"
"That wasn't even the best part of my game, Ava."
"A game? You think this is a freaking game?! You've—okay, you know what? I don't care what you say or how you threaten me, I'm alerting the authorities right now. I don't care if I'm killed for doing so!" I threatened.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you. I have your Mom and I have Tori. But I won't keep them both here for long. You don't have much time left," Robbie threw back.
In the background, I could hear Tori pleading. "Robbie, please don't! Stop!"
My heart climbed up my throat.
"Robbie, please don't hurt Mom or Tori! Please don't!"
"You can still save them. But I don't want you telling anyone where I'm hiding at, not even the cops. Do you understand me?"
I swallowed hard. "Yes. Where should I meet you?"
"You know that old warehouse in Ember Oaks?"
I thought about it. It took me a few seconds to remember.
"Is it the warehouse by Forest Avenue?"
"Yes, that one. That's where we'll be waiting for you," Robbie said.
"Okay. I'll see you there," I replied.
"Oh, Ava?" He asked before I hung up.
"What?"
"I'll know if you bring anyone along with you. Mom and Tori would have to pay the price for that slip up. So don't do anything stupid."
I quivered at those words. "Fine."
