When I found out that Mom's job offered the same position she had five months later, and located in Broward County, I was really happy for her. Especially since that new job was located in Florida. I told her that she should totally go for it. I tried persuading her because I've been dying to move there since I was a little kid. Plus, I needed a scenery change. So, her and I packed our things, put our house up for sale, and we made the nine and half hour drive to Deerfield Beach.
Once we arrived there, I thought the city was absolutely fantastic. That, and there were three great things about living in Deerfield Beach.
One: The townhouse we currently live in was near the beach. It was about a fifteen-minute drive to get there and it was awesome. Mom and I went spent most of our weekends there.
Two: Her job was close to our new house so she didn't have to drive that far. Plus, she met this really nice, friendly, and quite handsome Welsh doctor at the new hospital where she was working. They went out together a couple times to have dinner at Muddy Waters. So I'm praying that their relationship would lead somewhere from here.
Three: Coincidentally, Tori's Dad's job as a manager relocated to Broward County, as well. So, they trailed along with Mom and I. They live in Coconut Creek, but Tori and I go to the same private school.
In essence, things were becoming like the way it used to be before Robbie entered my life. My life felt like it was mending back together again, gradually. And, to make things better, Mom surprised me last month by purchasing a German Shepherd in place of Cupcake. We decided to name him Dante. He's the second best dog we've owned and I wouldn't trade him for anything.
However, I think what really calms me down and cures my pain more than anything is the beach. Honestly. The saltwater breeze, the sand in between my toes, the warm water, the seagulls flying above my head. With Florida being my antidote, I didn't need any medications. Florida's done it for me. I was really beginning to feel a lot better. Like I was finally back home again.
