It's my first day of middle school. I'm terrified. Oh hi, my name is Erin. I am 11 years old, I love to play soccer, and I do a swim team in the summer. I know it's crazy that I'm 11 and going into middle school, but I turn 12 next month. Last year my best friends were Haley and Tammy. I found Haley but for some reason Tammy hung out with a different group. So it was just me and Haley. A month flew by and I turned 12. I was so excited that I turned 12 because the other kids would stop making fun of me for being younger, I'm now they same age as them. I went to second period science and we changed seats. My teacher sat me next to this guy who looked very familiar. And then it hit me, he went to my church. "Hey, didn't I see you on Sunday? I think you go to my church," I ask. He gave me a look that I look a little familiar but just played along that he knew me. As we were talking I stared into his deep brown eyes, I got lost in them. I don't usually like guys with brown eyes but he was cute.

After second period was brunch. I hung out with Haley but didn't tell her about Norman, the cute guy from second period. Then the bell rang and I went to third period, then fourth. Finally it was lunch. I went to Haley but for some reason I really wanted to play soccer, so I did. I was the only girl there and most of them were eighth graders but I was in seventh, so I didn't really know them. The next day Haley was hanging out with a different group so I just decided to play soccer again. The bell rang and I went to fifth period, then to sixth. "Hey Erin! I didn't know you were in this class!" I turn around and there stood Norman. "Oh my gosh, hey!" I had no idea Norman had PE with me, I was so happy.

It's still only September. It's felt like years since my best friend moved to Idaho. The thing is, I didn't realize she was my best friend. I didn't realize how much I had until I lost it all. My best friend, Cami, went to church with me and was on my soccer team. We loved baking and swimming together. I always thought that Haley was my best friend. I guess she was my school best friend, but I've never been to her house and she's never been to mine. Cami, on the other hand, would come over all the time. One day she tricked me, she told me she broke her arm, so I freaked out. But she joking, she did that all the time. Until one day she told me she was moving, of corse I didn't believe her. But it turns out she was actually moving. I didn't cry, I don't know why. Probably because I didn't realize how much she meant to me. She wasn't sure when she was going to move, all she new was that she was moving at the end of August, but my birthday is in September. September 13th to be exact. I told my mom that I needed her at my birthday party, so we decided to have it earlier. She didn't know when she was moving, and we needed to make a date so people can come. We decided Saturday August, 22. I told Cami, and she asked her mom. About a week later, she told me she was moving August 22nd. It broke my heart. My best friend moved the day of my birthday party. I had a soccer game that morning, then in the afternoon was my party. I was driving to my soccer game and it hit me. Cami wouldn't be at the soccer game, and I would never see her again. That's when the tears rolled down my cheeks.
