"Oh my God," said Ali.
"This was all your fault, Ali," said Matty.
"How was it my fault? I didn't do this to you," said Ali.
"No, but you're the reason I ended up in that... That place," said Matty.
"Hold on. Before you say anything else... If you got burned so badly, why did you set off that firework at the carnival at St. Bridges? Why risk it happening again?" asked Ali.
"What can I say? Everyone in this family just loves to play with fire... Remember the Jenna thing?" asked Matty.
"That was an accident, and how did you even know about that?" asked Ali.
"I know every secret, Ali. Every lie. It's been me, from the beginning. I was the one sending you those A messages before you disappeared. I was the baby face you saw in the costume store," said Matty.
"So you've been wearing that mask from the start?" asked Ali.
"What, you thought Mrs. Vanderwaal could pull all of that off? She was only an amateur. That's why she wound up dead. I'm the puppet master," said Matty.
