Indi’s POV:

As soon as the bell rang, I ran to the bus to get a seat at the back for Ashton and I. Jordan lived on the other side of the suburb, so she caught another bus. Ever since Jordan said that we had all been best friends, I wanted to find out what was going on. I wanted answers, and I wanted them now, but I wasn’t sure that I was going to get much out of talking to Ashton or Jordan about it. I have quickly learnt that once you get Jordan started on a topic, there is no stopping her. That kid could talk under wet cement. There is also something that you should know about me. Once I want to do or find out something, I have to do it. I am a very determined person. That also applies to my opinions. Once I get an opinion about something or someone, it is almost impossible to get me to change my mind about it. It takes a lot of time and convincing. In some ways, that is a great thing, and in other ways it is a terrible thing. I am also the type of person that is not afraid to say my opinions, but most of the time it just gets me into trouble though. I should definitely learn to keep my mouth shut more often.

We were only a couple of minutes away from my stop, and Ashton and I hadn’t talked much, so I thought I should start a conversation. I really wanted to know more about Indi. I just wanted to get to know more about her. If i got to know more about her, then it may help with finding out if it is me or not.

“So, Ashton, tell me about you long lost best friend Indi.” I say, turning towards him. He instantly smiles at me mentioning her. Wow, I thought, she really had an effect on him.

“Well, she had long, brown hair, brown eyes, and an award winning smile. She was just a bundle of joy, bringing happiness wherever she went. We used to be next door neighbours, you know, and we used to spend every waking minute with each other. Our families were really close too, which was a bonus for us because we could spend more time together. Her mum would pick us up every afternoon from school and we would both go to her place or mine, and just hang out. Every now and then Jordan would join us, but she would usually sleep over on the weekend because she lives on the other side of town. On Friday nights we would have family night, where her family and mine would have dinner together and just hang out. Occasionally Jordan and her family would tag along too. Then one day, when we were at the ripe old age of seven, she told me that her and her family were leaving for England. I was devastated. I asked her when she was leaving, and guess how long she gave me to say good bye. One week! All I had was one week to spend with my bestest friend in the whole world.”

As weird as this may sound, I really felt for Ashton. Even though he was only seven, he sounded like he was really upset that she left.

“I’m sorry Ash, I’m sure she was just as upset that she had to leave. She sounded like a great friend.” I didn’t know what to do, so I did the first thing that came to my mind. I gave him a hug.

“I’m fine, really.” He said with a small smile. “But thanks for caring. It’s nice to know that I have a friend in at least one person besides Jordan.” I smiled back at him. Ashton was just so nice; he really did deserve more friends. I made it my mission to get him some more friends. He didn’t deserve to be on his own.

“Well, this is your stop.” He said, sighing.

“Oh yeah, well I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.” I replied, giving him a quick hug.

“See you then!” I quickly hopped off the bus, leaving a smiling Ashton behind. I walked as quickly as I could to my house. I needed to get to my computer as fast as I could. I know that makes me sound like such a computer addict, but I promise I’m not. I just needed to find out more information about this Indi girl and whether it is actually me. I ran to the front door and went to open it but it was locked. Mum wasn’t home yet, obviously. I grabbed the keys that were in my school bag, unlocked the door and ran upstairs to grab my laptop from my room. I guess the first place to start looking is Facebook. I’m not sure whether there would be many other places to look. I logged into Facebook and typed in ‘Ashton Irwin’. Since there is a lot of Ashton Irwin’s on Facebook, it took me a while to find him, but I eventually did. I quickly added him, and while I was waiting for him to accept, I checked my Mum’s Facebook to see if she had any photos or anything of us on there.

I scrolled through her photos for a few minutes and couldn’t seem to find anything when a notification popped up saying that Ashton added me. I guess my mum has no evidence of us being friends, I thought. I clicked on Ashton’s profile, scrolled down his photos and within 10 seconds I found a photo of Ashton when he was little, standing next to a girl. I instantly clicked it, but to my disappointment, I realised that the girl in the photo was Jordan. I scrolled through his photos for a few more minutes and was about to give up hope when one photo caught my eye. It was a photo of a group of around 10 people standing in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I clicked on the photo and noticed that there was three little kids standing at the front of the group. My eyes widened when I saw who the three kids were. The three kids were none other than Jordan, Ashton and a girl who looked exactly like me when I was younger. I looked at the other members of the group and recognized my mum and dad in the photo. I saved the photo to my computer and opened the file, zooming in on our faces. Oh my god, it’s me, I thought, shocked. I really was best friends with Jordan and Ashton.

None of this made sense. How on earth could I be that close with them and not remember them at all? I mean, they look familiar, but I can’t remember even seeing them before, let alone being best friends with them. How could I forget about them so quickly, when they made it sound like we were inseparable? Since Ashton was still online, I decided to ask him for his number as I needed to talk to him urgently. He immediately gave it to me and I called him. After a few rings, he picked up.

“Hey Indi, what’s up?” He asked, sounding a bit confused as to why I urgently need to talk to him.

”I have something that I need to tell you.” I said, my voice sounding confused and urgent.

“And that is...?” He asked, his voice growing with anticipation.

“I think I am your long lost best friend.”
