Tobin's POV;

Alex followed me as I led us down the hall to the elevator. "So, you're new here?" I asked, pressing the button to go up. I shook my head realizing how dumb the question sounded. Like obviously you moron.

"Um, yeah. Pia called me and asked me to come to this camp." Alex replied quietly.

"Well you must be pretty stoked right? Playing your first time with the national team." I mentioned and she nodded slightly. The elevator door finally opened.

We went to the third floor in silence, Alex staring at the floor. I decided it was best to not try and start a conversation.

Right when we stepped out Lauren and Amy came up to us. "Hey, who'd you get stuck with?" Amy asked and Lauren shoved her slightly, motioning over to Alex who was standing awkwardly behind me. "Oh, the new girl."

"Guys, this is Alex. It's her first camp." I explained and they both said hi to Alex, who returned the gesture. "So, meet you at breakfast tomorrow? It's getting late." I asked and they both gave me a 'oh alright then' look and glanced back and forth from Alex to I. Lauren smirked and whispered something to Amy as they walked back down the hall. "You know I'm not blind right." I yelled down at them and Amy just turned with a laugh and continued walking away.

I sighed and unlocked room 415 with the key. I let Alex walk in before me and shut the door behind us. "Sorry about them."

"Sorry for what? They seem nice." Alex said politely as she sat down on one of the two queen sized beds.

"Are you like this all the time, or are you just like pretending to be so nice?" I questioned with a smile which Alex returned.

"I'm trying to be nice. But underneath I'm a bitch." Alex replied shortly and I squinted at her. "I'm joking." She continued with a laugh and I smiled.

"So you do have some humor with you." I sat down on the other bed and turned on the tv. "Any requests?"

Alex shook her head leaned back against the headboard.

I shrugged and turned on The Bachelor.

"Really? I didn't peg you as a Bachelor type of person." Alex laughed and I looked at her, smiling from the sound of her laugh.

"What? I find it hilarious who hard these girls try to get one guy." I stated and Alex just smiled and sat back.

Alex's POV;

When I woke up in the morning I rolled over to find Tobin still asleep. She looked so peaceful and small wrapped up in the sheets. I looked for a second before I realized this could be considered staring. Don't be weird at your first camp Alex, that's not how you make friends. You also shouldn't talk to yourself.

I pressed the home button on my phone and checked the time. 8:36. Wait, when was breakfast again? I sat up and leaned over the side of the bed to get the paper sceduele Coach Pia gave me. Breakfast 8:30 am. Shit.

Jumping out the bed, I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I came back Tobin was still asleep. Did she not wake up on time or does she just not care? I walked over and tapped her shoulder. No response. I tapped her slightly harder. She groaned and rolled over. I shook her shoulder slightly. "Tobin, wake up."

"Not now, Perry. Go away." Tobin mumbled into her pillow.

"It's not Perry. It's Alex, we have to go to breakfast." Who's Perry? I took a step back as Tobin rubbed her eyes and looked around.

"Oh," she said groggily and looked at the clock. "I'll just meet you down there, alright?" Tobin rolled over again and I sighed.

Changing into the sweats and uswnt pull over Coach Pia gave me, I left the room. Two people were walking down the hall towards the elevator. I didn't know who they were. One of them had blonde short hair and a goofy smile and the other had slightly longer dirty blonde hair and was laughing at something the blonde one said.

"Hey, you must be Alex!" The blonde one ran up to me. "I'm Megan and this is Meghan." She pointed over to the other girl who stopped to knock on someone else's door. "But people call me Pinoe because my last name's Rapinoe. Got any nicknames I should know about?" She asked quickly and I could barely even understand what she was saying.

"Um, no. I'm Alex. Just Alex." I said back, standing a bit uncomfortably. Wow I wish I wasn't the only new person here.

"Lame." Pinoe laughed and shook me by the shoulders. "We'll just have to change that. Lucky you because you're with the best nicknamer. Guess who? This girl." Pinoe pointed to herself and I laughed. The other Meghan finally showed up with someone else right behind her.

"Hey, I'm Meghan, but people call me Kling. This is Morgan Brian, people call her Moe. Well at least I do." She laughed as Morgan poked her hard into her side. [a/n: I know Moe doesn't show up for awhile, but just deal w it. Klingenmoe needs to rise here].

"Hi, I'm Alex." I replied shortly and finally we head down to breakfast.

As soon as we get there they all find seats or go straight to the buffet, leaving me standing alone looking like an idiot. I look around for a minute and finally sit down at a partly empty table. I recognized Lauren and Amy sitting there but I didn't know the other two people.

"You're Tobin's roommate, where she at?" Amy asked as she shoveled eggs into her mouth.

"She woke up late." I said and Lauren and Amy looked at each other.

"Typical." Lauren laughed and got up to get breakfast.

"You're Alex?" The person sitting across from me questioned and looked at me. Then I recognized her. The Abby Wambach. The greatest ever who learned from the best greatest ever, Mia Hamm. I shifted in my seat and nodded nervously. "I'm Abby."

"I know, I'm a big fan." I replied, hoping it didn't sound as weird coming out of my mouth as I thought. Abby smiled and we talked for a couple minutes; I learned the girl sitting to her right was Becky Sauerbrunn, the world class defender.

Suddenly I felt someone slump down in the chair besides me. "Hope this seat's not taken." I turned and see a sleepy Tobin yawning.

"You're late." Abby warned.

"But it's just breakfast." Tobin retorted, slumping down even further into her seat.

"Most important meal of the day." I said and Tobin glared at me. I shrugged back.

"See, even the baby on the team knows. You know what, I like you, Alex." Abby mentioned and I smiled, feeling heat come to my cheeks. Tobin pouted for a moment before asking me if I wanted to go get food. I nodded and we both got up.

"You excited for your first practice?" Tobin asked as we hovered over the eggs and potatoes.

"Try nervous." I said as I scooped up a thing of scrambled eggs.

"Don't be, you'll do great." Tobin flashed me a smile that made me smile. Wow it was a million dollar smile. I quickly looked back down at my plate.

"Thanks, um, I'm gonna go sit down." I explained and Tobin nodded in return.

I slumped down at the table and rested my forehead on my hands. God Alex why do you make everything so awkward.

Today's going to be a long day...
