JFK International Airport, New York City
"Thank you again for flying from City Airport, London," I hear as I wake up. "If you are vacationing here, enjoy your stay. If you are coming back home, welcome back home."
I try to get up and stretch but am stopped by Scorpius' head still on my shoulder. I place my hand on his knee and shake him awake.
"Five more minutes." He mumbles.
"Scorpius, we're in New York. We've made it." I say to him, hoping it'll excite him into waking up. It obviously has; his head pops up off from my shoulder and his eyes open promptly.
"Already? But we just got on the plane!" He exclaims.
"We slept through the majority of the trip it seems." I state.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Scorpius asks. "Let's start exploring!" By the time we finish our conversation, I notice almost everyone has exited the plane. Scorpius stands up quickly and passes between my legs and the seat in front of me to get his carry-on bag from above. As soon as he gets his bag down, he quickly glides it across the plane floor, not even waiting for me to stand. Shaking my head, I quickly grab my bag and follow.
After I get off the plane, I find Scorpius standing off to the side, waiting for me. "You don't seem very excited about finally getting here." He says to me.
"You haven't given me a chance to get excited!" I tell him the truth. "As soon as I woke you up you wanted to get past me!"
He rolls his eyes. "Come on, let's get going! We have to get the rest of our bags!" Scorpius takes me by the arm and guides me through the mobs of people.
As we are walk I try to notice my surroundings, trusting that Scorpius will get us to the right place. This place is packed with people; almost everyone has white wires dangling from their ears, the rest with colored pieces of plastic over the tops of their heads. I think they are called headphones, but I don't remember for sure.
Along the sides were a lot of shops. A lot of them were stocked with travelling necessities such as clothing, magazines, and snacks. I guess this is an easy way for Muggles to make quick and easy money.
"I think this is the place." Scorpius says, stopping in his place. I stop with him, taking time to notice that he's out of breath.
"Are you okay, Scorpius? You seem to be short of breath." I question him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just excited, you know? We did just speed-walk here anyway. I'll be fine in a minute or two."
In front of us looks to be a huge machine that is supposedly supposed to bring our luggage to us, one of Muggle's many technologies. Human, not Muggle. I have to remind myself.
Suddenly, an almost deafening sound blasts around us. I jump and look around to see who was the cause of the sound.
"It's the machine," Scorpius informs me. "We have to watch for our luggage now, the thing is moving."
"Moving?" I ask. I look at the machine and it is indeed moving. People's luggage begins to come clear and move around. Scorpius and I have to move closer to the machine just to see when our bags come around. Once we do, we quickly grab them and get out of the crowd of people.
"Where to next?" Scorpius asks once we are outside of the airport.
I take a moment to consider all we could do. Explore around the city, go shopping, have some fun. The possibilities are endless. Instead of suggesting one of those ideas, I say "Why don't we check out our new living space?"
