"I asked mom if we could take her car up to the mall," Caleb says right as I sit down on the couch. Seriously, what great timing.
"Are we actually leaving now?" I whine and close my eyes. I lay down on my back and cover my face with the small square pillow.
"Well I want to get it now so we won't be back to late," he says and I groan.
Sitting up I glare at Caleb, "it's not even that far."
"Can we please go now?" he asks and I manage to stand up. Caleb gives me a small smile and I just walk past him. I go to my room so that I can grab my small black purse, literally it just hold my wallet, phone, and some chapstick. I hardly use it so I don't put a lot in it. Also I put on a pair of red converse. I go back down stairs and see Caleb waiting by the back doors.
"Let's go," I say and walk towards the front door. Caleb unlocks the car when I get next to it and I sit in the passengers seat. Caleb gets in the driver's seat and next thing I know we are off to the mall. I scroll through my Twitter and Instagram feed while we are driving. Car rides, no matter how long or short, are the worst. You never get used to them when you get older.
"Are you positive Susan will like this dress?" Caleb asks nervously as we pull into the mall parking lot.
"Yes Caleb," I tell him, "now stop stressing out over it."
"I really care about her and I don't want to mess it up," Caleb explains as he pulls into an open parking spot.
"You won't mess up," I smile, "plus she will probably smack you for getting her this dress."
"Why would she do that?" Caleb asks, his eyebrows knitting together.
"This dress may be a tad on the pricey side," I tell him and he shrugs. "Lets just go get the dress."
________
"Are you sure this is the one?" Caleb asks me holding the grey dress up.
I nod in reply, "yes Caleb. Now I need to find a dress for that business dinner thing tonight."
"How long will that take?" he asks and I shrug.
"Not to long, maybe ten minutes tops," I tell him and start to look through the rack of dresses.
===============================
"I got one," I tell him as I leave the dressing room, with the dresses folded over my forearm.
"Good now lets go," he says and goes straight to the cashier.
I chose a white dress that goes a little bit past my knees. the center of the dress is just one strap, a little bit of my stomach shows but not a lot. It is really nice and I'm actually excited to wear it. When I go to the cashier I see a beautiful necklace. I pick it up but the price was way to high for me to get it. I set it back down with a sigh and buy my dress.
Caleb and I leave the store and see none other than Tobias. Of course he is with Zeke and Uriah. They wave rapidly at me and I smile in return. Caleb and I continue to leave the mall to head back home.
***************************
"Beatrice someone is at the door for you!" Dad calls up to my room and I roll my eyes.
Seriously who is here for me? Susan is to busy with Caleb and the Pedrads are always partying on Friday nights. I set down my mascara down and walk downstairs. I already have my dress on and my hair done, it's just makeup left. Obviously I don't ever wear a lot. I just put on blush, a light blue eyeshadow, and now just the mascara. I was thinking about putting on lipgloss if I could find any.
"Who's here dad?" I asks as I step down the last step. I glance up and stop when I see Tobias is here. He can't leave me alone can he? It's rather annoying, especially these past couple days.
"Tobias said he had to give you something," dad says and kisses the top of my head, "I'm going to check on your mother." With that he walks right by me and up the stairs. I glare as he walks past before looking at Tobias.
"Why are you here Four?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest. He stops running his hand through his messy hair and looks up at me.
"I wanted to give you this," he says handing me a small black, rectangular box. I raise an eyebrow and he gives me a look as if saying open it. I slowly take the top of the box off and gasp when I realize what it was.
"Why'd you buy me this?" I ask pulling the necklace out of the box.
"I saw that you wanted it back at the mall so I got it for you," he says and rubs the back of his neck.
"Take it back," I say laying it in the box, "this was way to expensive-"
"I want you to have it," he smiles, his cheeks a light shade of pink, "think of it as a I'm sorry for pissing you off gift."
"Four take this right now," I say holding the box towards him.
He slowly takes it and opens it. The necklace sparkles from the light reflecting off of it. He points to something behind me and I turn around confused. Next thing I know is he's putting the necklace on me. My hand instantly goes up to hold it and I look back at him.
"I told you to take it back," I whisper from how close we are.
"I told you I want you to have it," he whispers back. I feel my heart beat quicken and I chew on the inside of my cheek. I notice him start to lean in and I panic.
"I have to finish getting ready," I stammer.
"Uh yeah," he mumbles stepping back. "See ya Pumpkin."
My heart melted when he called me Pumpkin. It has been so long and I actually missed it. Uriah still calls me Kitty, and Zeke calls me Bea, but when Tobias calls me Pumpkin it's different. I try to clear my head and go back to my room. I touch up my mascara and find a pink lipgloss. Quickly putting it on, I make sure not to get it all around my lips.
"Time to go Beatrice," dad says knocking on my door. I grab my small black purse and go downstairs to meet up with my family. Susan and Caleb are driving separately, only because Caleb insisted on doing that. Susan's family is coming, seeing how our dads work together. We just found that out like four days ago. Small world I guess.
