"So honey how was your first day of school, d'you make any friends?" My mum asked, welcoming me as I got into the car.
"Yeah, actually I had a pretty good day, I met these really nice people and one's in my class." I told her with joy.
"That's great, what are their names?"
"Well there's Claire, Padgett and Levi." I told her.
"Do you think this Levi kid is cute, if so you've got some competition." She said, taking more concentration on the road as she drove off onto the highway.
"No I only just met him, and Padgett's actually a guy." I told her.
"Oh, sorry, I thought he was a girl, he's got quite a girly name don't you think?"
"Well yeah but I really like the name, its unique."
The rest of the trip home was nothing but silence followed by the hum of the radio in the back of my head, doing nothing but stare out the window and take notice of every little detail of the town I now called home.

Pulling up to the driveway from the short journey the sun reflected off its bronze surface, blinding me as I opened the door.
"He mum, what time is dad coming home?" I asked, grabbing my bag from where it sat beside me.
"Sorry Joseph I wouldn't know, he didn't give a specific time when he'd be."
I sighed, I was just so pumped to tell him about the day I had and the friends I'd made, guess I just had to wait.
Of course the first place I went to when I came home was the kitchen, I was so Hungry despite the the fact that I had already eaten today. My stomach grumbled as if a phone was buzzing in my stomach, I just grabbed whatever I could find which was some left over chicken that we had the night before.
"Is the fridge always gonna be the first thing you come to?" My mum asked, placing her small leather handbag on the dinner table.
"Yeah." I said, muffling through the left over chicken that was being chewed in my mouth. As soon as my "meal" was finished I raced up to my bedroom with my phone in hand, skipping every second step, tiring me out as I reached the top. "Oh my gosh I can't wait to tell the guys about my day!" I said to myself, gracefully swan diving onto my my bed covered in rose gold sheets and blankets. With fingers as fast as sonic and gathered Phillip, Tyler, Marzia and Lillian into a group chat, swiftly telling them how my day was. Not before long my so called "story" was already being sent to the group chat, painfully loading to be sent.
At least five minutes had passed and still no reply.
"What's up with everyone today."
It was unusual for everyone to reply so late, even at the latest of times at least someone would have replied back by now.......nothing.
Guess they must be doing something important, I thought to myself, raising my head once more from the edge of my bed. Guessing that they probably won't reply for a while a took myself back downstairs, slumping over as I raised myself to stand."Did your friends reply back." My Mum asked, scooting around the kitchen with arms full of vegetables.
"No, I don't know why they haven't replied yet, it's weird."
"Well didn't you think that the different time zones may have something to do with it?"
"Yeah but they always reply to my texts no matter what time it is."
I was beginning to become agitated.
"Well just wait, and while your doing that why don't you help me with dinner?"
I was never one for making "decent" while in the kitchen but helping out was never a problem.
With the minutes passing I started to think whether my friends actually cared for me at all, as if they thought I was nothing else but a faint memory, no, they wouldn't, I mean we've shared so many fun times together, our friendship couldn't end like that, could it?
