Red's POV
I dragged Kut through Snowpoint and out of the city, we stopped at the edge of a lake. I sighed when I saw Kut was unconscious, I wondered where Jack and his crew had gone. I hoped they escaped, I didn't want anyone else dying because of me. Two was enough.
I stared at the lake water, it was hazy and icy. Although it still reminded me of my lost Manaphy friend Tet.
"I failed again. I got someone killed again, all because I wasn't strong enough. If I had just hit Arcadia! If I had just overpowered Control!" I cried, "What is my purpose? Is it to just screw up, and have the hero clean up the mess I make?"
The icy wind blew in my face, snow whirling past me. The snow felt solid and packed together, occasionally a big gust of wind almost blew me back. Kut however wasn't moving, I assumed it was because he was a steel type and more anchored.
"I need to take care of this myself, I don't care what it takes. I will stop Arcadia, and this time I'm not risking anyone else's lives." I decided, I was about to leave when I heard some movement and turned to see Kut beginning to stir. He picked up his sheath and turned to me.
"Red, where are we?" Kut asked, I could tell there was rage in his tone but I figured it'd be smart to not mention it.
"Not too far from the city, I'm going back there and you're NOT following me. I'm not letting anyone else die from my problems." I told him, but he went closer to me.
"Ye I will not be following you. However I will be killing that Dusclops. Despite it being your fault as to why I couldn't save Belle in time, he was the one who delivered the killing blow. So I am slaying that monster and then leaving to train, I will become a hero. One way or another." Kut narrowed his eye at me and then floated off.
"Kut wait! I can't let you go back there! You'll get killed!" I shouted, racing in front of him.
"Get out of my way! I am certain I will be better off without you. You cannot even control you will-o-wisp or aim your shadow ball!" Kut growled, dropping his sheath, leaving his cloth hand open.
"I know I can't. I'm terrible at everything Kut, but maybe I can do this. What if I like, collapse the roof and take out Arcadia? I could probably blow up the building without trying! So just give me a chance, if I can pull it off, I promise I'll stay out of you way." I hardly believed myself, but by some miracle Kut backed down.
"Fine. I give you one hour, then I'm coming in. And I can promise you I am certain you will not survive. Which is good for me." With that reassurance from Kut I began the trek back to Snowpoint city. Suddenly an Accelgor jumped down from a tree and landed in front of me, glaring at me.
"Hello Rotom and Honedge, I am here to end your puny existences!" The bug type chuckled.
"Good luck with that, I am stronger than I appear. He is not however." Kut pointed his blade end at the newcomer.
"Hey! I can fight too!" I protested, and the Accelgor burst out laughing.
"If you two fools think you stand a chance against me, then keep dreaming."
"SHIN-OBI!" A new voice roared and a Escavalier raced forward, jabbing at the Accelgor and hitting it twice.
"Militem, I was sure you wouldn't show up."The Accelgor, presumably Shin-Obi, crossed his arms.
"What are you doing to these two Pokemon? And why?" The Escavalier, presumably Militem, asked.
"Arcadia told me to, he said thy were evil and tried to kill him." Shin-Obi replied, if Kut had an eyebrow he probably would've raised it.
"Arcadia thinks WE'RE evil? He's the one who wishes to wipe out all Pokemon. He killed my lover just recently with his Dusclops." Kut told them, they both looked confsued and shocked.
"Arcadia would never kill a Pokemon, he loves all pokemon!" Militem protested.
"Tell that to Tet and Belle!" I growled.
"Tet and Belle? Are they your partners in evil that Arcadia stopped?" Shin-Obi asked, which was really frustrating me.
"Don't you dare talk about Belle like that!" Kut roared and he swung his blade at them in an arc, they both jumped back but he managed to swing again and hit Militem's armor, causing it to vibrate. Which must've been terrible for the Pokemon inside.
"I knew you were evil!" Shin-Obi laughed, and I up and slapped him across the face.
"You provoked him, he's only defending his girlfriend which you boss killed! He didn't just kill Belle, he killed Tet! It's his fault Tet is dead! Tet was one of my best friends but now he's gone! And it's all HIS FAULT!" I screamed and sent a giant charge of electricity into Shin-Obi. I was shocked that the attack hit, but I couldn't enjoy my victory for long since Shin-Obi was up again in seconds.
"You should be ashamed for working for a man who kills innocent Pokemon mercilessly!" Kut screeched, he began to glow blue and drove his blade end into Miltiem's armor, almost piercing it and sending the bug and steel type flying back into a tree.
I held three shadow balls in front of me and fired the barrage at Shin-Obi, he leaped into the air, destroyed one, dodged the other, but the third one slammed into his chest. He fell down onto the snow and created a cloud of white powder.
I couldn't see anything until a bright glowing beam smashed into my face and sent me sprawling backwards. I ended up ding at least three flips in the air when I finally stopped, moaning I got up to see the snow cloud, for the most part, had cleared. However, I also saw Militem and Shin-Obi gang up on Kut and double attack him with signal beam and twineedle.
"Leave my friend alone!" I ordered, I put all the remaining energy I had into one finally giant thunder, which crashed into the two bug types. They crumpled to the ground unconscious and I weakly floated over to Kut.
"Kut... We did it..." I managed, my vision blurring.
"Yes, now it is my turn to drag you out of a fight. You look exhausted." Kut told me, and I didn't protest when he grabbed me with his cloth hand and raced off. I simply went along with it, tiredly closing my eyes.
When I felt us come to a stop I opened my eyes, I had no idea where we were. However there was a lot more snow falling, so much that it was hard to see Kut next to me.
"Oh good, you are awake. Red I was thinking about what happened before and I would like to apologies." Kut started. "It wasn't all your fault or even that Dusclopses fault. I couldn't just ask for assistance, I was sure I could do it myself. Perhaps if I had just called for help, you could have assisted and we might have-have saved her." Kut's voice broke and I could tell he was close to tears even if I couldn't see him.
"Kut, you don't have to blame yourself. I know it was mostly my fault. So don't think you had anything to do with it, because you didn't! You're brave and courageous, I could never be like that!" I said, putting my hand on his left guard.
"Honestly Red, I'm not even that brave. It's all an act, I'm terrified! I don't know how people can face giant enemies and almost certain death without faltering slightly." Kut admitted, and I almost chuckled.
"Yeah, it makes no sense. Like when my brother watched Tet die in front of him, he didn't even cry, he just went on and destroyed Control! I don't know how he does it, that must be something about him..."
"You know Red, I have a feeling that if we try again, we can defeat Arcadia. We just have to work together." Suddenly there was a large rumble, causing snow to fall from trees. We heard a loud roar in the distance, we both shared a look and raced off in the direction of Snowpoint city.
