( No P.O.V )
It was a sunny day when Steven was sitting next to his best friend, Connie. They chatted about random topics, as usual, staring out into the blue water. The other three Crystal Gems had gone on a mission that Steven wasn't allowed to go on, since there were dangerous creatures that littered the place, or as so the gems told him. The three had been gone all day, so he invited his friend over to avoid being alone. He loved her company anyways, and it was the perfect day to hang out together outside. But if connie hadn't come, he would've had his pet lion to keep him company, although Steven wouldn't have anyone to chat with, due to Lion's inability to speak.
As Steven started to explain a story about Lion to Connie, he was interuppted by a shout behind them, that was calling her. They both whipped around, to see Connie's mother standing quite far behind them. She looked frustrated with her arms crossed and an obvious angry expression.
"Shoot, what time is it? Agh. I've gotta go. I'll see you later, Steven!"
Connie said, getting up as she jogged to her mom, who scolded her for staying with steven for too long. She was expected to meet her mom at the boardwalk, where she would then drive her home. She had gotten too distracted talking with Steven that she had lost track of time. But now, steven was sitting alone, at the shore.A few moments later, he got up to head back inside, but he noticed Connie's cell phone lying face down in the sand.
'She must've dropped it when she got up..'
He thought, picking up the phone, sprinting to the boardwalk to hopefully catch up to Connie and her mom to return the phone. He arrived out of breath, but they were no where to be seen. He figured they had already gone home, so he walked back to the temple. As he got near the temple, he started calling for Lion. He planned to get Lion to use his portal ability to bring him to Connie's the return her phone, if he would be able to find him.
After looking for him outside for a while, he went into the temple to see if the feline had been napping inside.
He walked in and found his pet pacing around, which was quite odd."Lion?"
Steven watched Lion walk back and forth throughout the temple."Lion is something wrong?"
He asked with concern, approaching his tense pet. He put his arm out to pet him, but Lion snarled at him. Steven gasped and jumped back. His lion had never behaved that way...
