Boy or Girl

Elena layed down on the small cot in the white doctor's room. Lifting her shirt to expose her stomach the doctor walked in and sat down at the ultrasound machine.

"How are we today, Elena?" Dr. Stewart asked.

"Fine. This is the baby's daddy, Damon, by the way," Elena said taking Damon's hand.

"Pleasure," Dr. Stewart said putting the green goo on Elena's stomach.

Damon nodded curtly. Dr. Stewart placed the wand on Elena's stomach and the room filled with the baby's heartbeat. Elena felt her heart swell with joy and she felt tears prick her eyes. She glanced at Damon and saw that he had a tiny smile on his face. She smiled even more and turned her attention back to the monitor. 

"Would you like to know the sex of the baby?" Dr. Stewart asked moving the wand more.

Elena and Damon nodded. Within seconds the doctor turned to the couple and smiled. "Congratulations. It's a healthy baby girl."

Joyful and worried tears escaped Elena's eyes. "Damon we have a baby girl!"

Damon looked down at Elena and gave her his rare genuine smile that made Elena's heart swell. "I have two princesses now."

The doctor turned off the machine and wiped down Elena's stomach. "Have you felt her kick?"

"Oh yeah," Elena said.

"She also kicks at the worst times too," Damon said sarcastically causing Elena to blush.

Dr. Stewart giggled. "At least she is active." The doctor measured Elena's stomach and wrote in her clipboard. "Have you had any food cravings yet?"

Elena nodded. "I seem to want a lot of pizza."

Damon laughed. "A lot is an understatement."

Elena smacked his arm playfully and pulled her shirt back down. Dr. Stewart laughed.

"Good. Just remember to keep taking your vitamins, sleep, and not have a lot of stress. I will see you in ten weeks." Dr. Stewart said and left the room.

An hour later Elena and Damon stood in front of Alaric, Bonnie, Caroline, Jeremy, and Jenna. Stefan had not wanted to show up and chose to sulk in his room doing God knows what. Elena smiled at them and took out the ultrasound picture. Damon wrapped and arm around Elena's waist. Everyone looked at them expectantly.

Finally Elena took a deep breath. "Everyone, I want to show you our princess." She held the ultrasound picture so everyone could see.

A smile spread across everyone's face.

"It's a girl!" Caroline and Bonnie squealed.

Jenna had a small tear escape her eyes and hugged Elena tightly. Alaric high fived Jeremy and hugged Elena. They all said their congrats. Elena looked up at Damon.

"I think we should now start doing baby shopping."

Damon nodded. "If you could excuse us, we have to go and get some things for the princess."

Everyone let them leave without argument. Elena slid into Damon's Camaro and looked around it. "We will have to use my car for when we take the baby around."
