"Did you miss me?" Katherine asked showing her sickly sweet smile.
"What are you doing here?" Damon questioned moving over to Elena.
Katherine leaned against the wall and let out an exasperated sigh. "I told you. I come bearing news."
Stefan crossed his arms across his chest. "What news?"
Katherine swept her eyes from brother to brother and landed on Elena. "I think this is a talk between mother to mother."
Before the boys, or Elena for that matter, could say anything Katherine grabbed Elena by the arm and was using her vampire speed to get out of the house. Elena was sitting in a flashy BMW convertible speeding down the street to God knows where.
"Where are we going Katherine?" Elena asked turning to face Katherine.
"To my home. I want you to meet someone," A soft smile appeared on Katherine's face.
"Who?" Elena asked.
Katherine huffed out a puff of air. "Stop asking questions! You're questions will be answered in a few minutes."
Elena merely nodded and leaned back into the leather seats. Her mind traveled back to the boarding house to her precious daughter sleeping soundly in her crib. Hoping and praying to God she was okay Elena let her mind go back to the problem at hand.
Katherine said she wanted to talk "mother to mother". She knew Katherine had an illegitimate child, but since she was banished from her home and her baby taken away from her, Elena thought that would hardly qualify her as a mother. Besides, what mother doesn't go looking for their baby?
Trees blurred past them as they sped down the highway. Finally they turned into the long driveway of a beautiful mansion that had the "Foreclosure" sign in the front. Staring up at the cream white marble of the pillars holding up the wrap-around porch a gentle hand was placed on Elena's shoulder.
"Let's go inside," Katherine said in a soft voice.
Elena nodded. She couldn't believe that Katherine, the big bad vampire, was being nice, and spoke softly instead of harshly. Climbing out of the car they made their way into the house.
"Honey I'm home," Katherine yelled out into the echoing entryway that was covered in the same white marble as outside.
A figure in a white sundress with long dark brown hair came into view. Elena gasped when she saw her face. Beautiful beige skin, dark brown eyes, sweet slightly puckered rosy lips, stared at her with a slight smile. She was the spitting image of Elena.
"Hi, granddaughter," The woman said.
Elena rose an eyebrow. Granddaughter? She looked barely over 18. "Excuse me?" was all she could say.
"You forgot your manners," Katherine warned sharply.
The woman sighed and walked down the steps. "I'm sorry, Mother." She looked at Katherine with annoyance. "I'm Scarlet. Your great great great great grandmother. Daughter of Katerina Petrova."
Elena just gaped. "You're a vampire."
Both Katherine and Scarlet laughed.
"Duh," Katherine said.
Elena gave Katherine a questioning look. "Back it up. You're being nice. And scolding someone for not using their manners?"
