CHAPTER TWO
It seemed to anyone on the outside that the dinner was going well; two people however were feeling very uncomfortable as they tried not to look at each other.
“I am so glad that at least two of my children are happy” Christina began Jade looked at her husband he gave her a small smile and a cheeky wink as Toby looked at Faye, Ashley however just rolled her eyes and continued to play with her food.
“Yes it is nice and another wedding have you decided on a date yet?” Frank asked.
“Not yet dad but it won’t be long we are just waiting for her parents to get back from Morocco then we will have to discuss it all of us” Toby replied Faye nodded in agreement.
Ashley didn’t want to look up from her plate she thought being detached and cold towards Faye would help but it didn’t, it still hurt to think the love of her life was marrying her brother when it should be her it was too much she wanted to leave but she couldn’t her mother would want to know what was up and she wasn’t sure if she could lie in the state she was in.
“All we need now is to find Ashley a girlfriend” Christina said suddenly Ashley looked up from her plate to her mother then to Faye before quickly looking away again but not before Jade saw it, she frowned ‘what was that about?’ she thought to herself.
“Mum I’m fine” Ashley argued going back to picking her food.
“Honey you haven’t dated anyone since that girl at university” Christina said softly “you really need to move on from her”
“I did she wasn’t that important” Ashley hissed.
“Faye do you have any lesbian sisters or cousins?” Christina asked Faye, Ashley spat the water she was drinking out all over the table “are you alright Ash?”
“I’m fine I will just clean this up” Ashley said quickly running to the kitchen.
It hurt Faye when Ashley said that she meant nothing to her, then again could she really blame her she did dump her brutally she hadn’t realised what an impact it had on Ashley she always seemed cheery and she did after their talk.
Ashley didn’t bother getting a towel to clean up she just went straight outside she didn’t want her family to hear her crying hiding behind the wall she sobbed slowly falling to the floor and hugging her knees and crying into them, she didn’t realise someone had followed her out and was now sitting next to her pulling her into a hug she just let them.
“That’s her isn’t it?” Jade whispered softly “the girl who broke your heart” all Ashley could do was nod Jade sighed and ran a hand through her hair to sooth her nothing else was said.
“How did you know?” Ashley finally asked.
“I saw the letter you wrote to her when you came back put two and two together” Jade replied Ashley sighed and hugged her sister tighter.
Jade left Ashley to make herself presentable before she went back inside it was good that someone else knew now, maybe Jade could stop her from doing something stupid.
The back door opened and closed again thinking it was Jade she turned “I’m fine” she stopped however when she saw Faye standing there instead.
“Have you been crying?” Faye asked softly Ashley snorted then looked away.
“Why do you care?” Ashley asked harshly Faye took a step back Ashley took a deep breath to calm down before finally looking at her “sorry that was uncalled for” she whispered.
“I understand why you’re angry” Faye said licking her lips without realising Ashley sort of laughed and shook her head.
“I’m not angry Faye” she began “you have moved on, you’re getting married I knew it would happen” she paused “ok I didn’t think it would be with my brother but things happen” Ashley shrugged smiling letting Faye know she was ok.
