CHAPTER THREE

When Faye went downstairs the next morning she noticed that breakfast was already being put on the table, Christina looked at her with a smile “good morning did you sleep well?” she asked.

“Fine thank you have you seen Ashley?” Faye asked as Jade walked in with shopping bags.

“Jade is Ash outside?” Christina asked Jade shook her head as she put the bags in the kitchen.

“Why is something broken?” Jade shouted.

“No Faye wanted to know” Christina replied as Jade walked back in.

“Oh did you why is that?” Jade had a funny look on her face when she spoke to Faye.

“I wanted to see if she slept well on the couch last night” Faye replied Jade gave her a look that said she didn’t believe her at all.

“Right she probably will be late Miss Brixton had a problem with her lights” Jade replied winking she walked away.

“Oh that Miss Brixton she has always fancied Ashley” Christina commented Faye clenched her jaw not that Christina noticed but Jade who was secretly watching the scene noticed it ‘maybe Ashley isn’t the only one still with feelings’ she thought to herself.

“How come they never dated then?” Faye asked hoping she sounded normal.

“It’s that girl she was dating; I swear if I ever meet her I will throttle her” Christina flustered Faye smiled nervously as the front door opened.

Ashley walked in putting her bag on the chair with a heavy sigh then sitting at the table.

“What did Miss Brixton want?” Christina asked Ashley looked up as she only just noticed they were there.

“Her light bulb needed changing I swear that woman makes stuff up just to get me round there” Ashley sighed.

“Honey Miss Brixton fancies you” Christina explained Ashley was about to reply but she stopped and frowned.

“Yeah I heard her talking to her friends in the shop about how cute you were” Jade said as she walked back in, it was a lie but Jade wanted to see if her suspicions about Faye were right not only did she not want her brother hurt but she wanted Ashley to be happy if she was honest her brother didn’t seem the type to settle down whereas Ashley was ready too.

“Well Ash why don’t you ask her out on a date?” Christina asked Ashley rolled her eyes and glared at Jade.

“Not my type mum” she mumbled “besides I’m happy as I am right now” she added.

“So was the couch comfy?” Jade asked casually Christina stopped what she was doing and looked at her hands on hips.

“Yes young lady why were you on the couch, you gave me a fright this morning” Christina scowled Ashley cringed at her mum’s tone where as Jade covered her mouth to stop from laughing out loud.

“It was too hot with two people in my bed and I figured Faye is a guest she could have my bed” Ashley replied she wasn’t lying it was hot just not because of actual heat.

“Fine dear but next time warn me” her mum said as she went about getting her breakfast as Toby and Frank came down.

“Good morning” Toby said with a grin as he kissed Faye who pretended to be eager to kiss him back all the while thinking of Ashley in a towel.

“Right hurry up and eat Ashley and Faye have a lot they need to do” Christina said Ashley looked up at her with a questionable look “well you two are old friends you will need the day to catch up and such so Frank is taking Toby out to buy a new suit for the engagement party tomorrow” Christina replied Ashley and Faye looked at each other then quickly looked away.
