"Good morning, Light-kun," I hear as I swing my feet over the edge of the bed to the floor.
Rose petals are still scattered across the floor, the candles have burned out, the chocolate covered strawberries are all gone, the champagne has vanished completely, and a certain raven-haired detective is perched in a chair by the window with a laptop at his fingertips. He's showered, shaved, and changed into clean clothes. I, on the other hand, am completely naked and my hair is an absolute wreck.
He certainly did a number on me last night.
"Good morning, Ryuzaki," I say as I stand and walk to the bathroom with a bit of a skip in my step.
Even though my back hurts like a bitch, I'm still high on life and even higher on love.
"How are you feeling?" He asks as he takes hold of my hand and pulls me toward him.
I smile and kiss the top of his head, saying softly, "Free, Ryu. I feel free."
He smiles to himself as I continue to the bathroom, slipping into the shower as soon as the water starts raining down. I revel in the warmth of the water, sighing as the tension in my body leaves me. My still-tense muscles finally relax and release, and I start piecing together last night's incredible events in my head.
Ryuzaki and I finally sealed our relationship with a kiss. That kiss led to a world of bliss I didn't realize existed. It went beyond all expectations.
We shared kisses and chocolate-covered strawberries as we made out in a room lit by candles and moonlight alone. We told each other about our hopes and dreams while letting our hands roam each other's body. We teased each other with love bites before giving into temptation. We got tangled up in the bedsheets while pleasing each other in ways only we will ever be able to speak of. We exhausted our hearts and bodies as pleasing each other morphed into absolute pleasure.
And then, when we felt we'd had enough, we kept going.
We moved from the bed to the pool-like jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, relaxing into each other's arms in a sea of bubbles and rose petals as we sipped on champagne. Then, when we were finally truly exhausted, we rinsed off, cuddled up in our bed, and fell asleep tangled up in each other.
It was beautiful.
As my memory clears and comes back to me, I turn off the water and step out of the shower. I reach for a towel only to find L standing there with a towel in his hands.
"Thank you, Ryuzaki," I tell him as I give him a quick kiss and take the towel from him.
He nods and says, "Of course, Light-kun."
"Go on down to work, love," I tell him as I towel off. "I'll be downstairs in a few minutes."
He leaves my sight as he calls over his shoulder to me, "I'll be waiting for you, Light-kun!"
I smile to myself as the door closes behind him. He's going to act like nothing happened while we're in front of my father and the other detectives.
God, he makes me crazy.
About twenty minutes later, I'm sitting next to my favorite detective with an apple in one hand and a latte in the other. I mindlessly munch on the bright red apple as I watch Ryuzaki. He's got a stack of reports in his hands, and he's clearly not amused by the information they're providing.
"Why can't Kira take a break when I'm with my sweetheart...?" I hear him ask, and all of the heads in the room whirl around to look at him.
"Ryuzaki?" My father asks.
Matsuda follows suit, asking, "What's wrong, Ryuzaki?"
Well, shit.
"Yes, gentlemen," L tells them bluntly, "I do have a significant other. I am able to express romantic feelings. I am capable of love and support. I am indeed human."
"We didn't mean anything, Ryuzaki," Matsuda says. "I think we're just surprised."
Aizawa nods, saying, "Definitely surprised."
"Understood," Ryu tells them, and then he turns to me. "What do you make of these reports, Light?"
He hands them to me and I immediately begin reading them, flying through the pages as efficiently as possible. I come to the conclusion that our suspect is most likely a businessman in an industry that has been damaged by criminal activity in some way, shape, or form. When I piece together that conclusion, I repeat it to L, and he nods.
"That's exactly as I thought," he says, "Well done, Light."
What I wouldn't give to kiss him right now.
I nod and give the reports back so he can look over them once more, saying, "Thank you, Ryuzaki."
The remainder of the work day comes and goes without any mark falling out of line. Each report is documented and filed as needed. All communication going to and from our building is saved and archived for Monday. And slowly, the team starts to leave for the weekend. Aizawa leaves first, then my father, and then everyone else.
"Light-kun," L says once the building is clear, "May I ask you something?"
"You may," I tell him.
He turns his chair toward me as he asks, "Did I do well today?"
"Of course," I say softly as I take his hand in mine. "You always do."
"But what about the slip-up?" He asks as his onyx eyes grow wider. "I made a mistake."
"Ryuzaki," I say softly as I squeeze his fingers with my own. "It's okay. Even if you had said more, and even if they'd started speculating or just simply found out, I would've defended us."
"Really, Light-kun?" He asks as he gracefully moves from his chair to mine and settles into my lap and arms.
I wrap him up in my arms, smile, and kiss his cheek, saying, "Yes, Ryu."
"I love you, Light," he says as he rests his head against my chest.
I start to run my fingers through his disheveled raven-black hair as I say, "I love you too, L."
He smiles and closes his eyes, enjoying the attention as I hug him tightly and kiss his face. I make sure to kiss his nose too, just for extra measure.
