The sun hadn't fully risen yet, casting a pale blue glow on Yurio's restless face. Mornings were usually homogeneous and monotonous, always starting the same way; he wasn't taking a liking to this disruption in his routine. The view of the quiet, calm city was a sight for star-gazing thoughts, nothing heavy enough to bring him down. But right now, he was so weighted down he might drown in even the non-toxic air surrounding him.
Today wasn't just a normal Saturday-- oh, no-- it was the most worrisome opportunity he'd amassed in a long time. No, scratch that: his entire life. For some reason, even if it wasn't that hard to decipher it, everything correlating with Otabek was always of extremely high salience.
These brick-and-stone thoughts weren't a novel occurence, either. They'd been pressing down on him since Otabek had left last night, traipsing away with plans of meeting up the following morning. Which was today, whether a good or bad thing for the teenager.
It wasn't feelings of pique or ambivalence; they'd sorted away all maliciousness over the span of a long talk-- and thanks to the kneading of Otabek's hand on his back. He was seldom one to welcome physical contact, but the small circles mollified him in an unexplainable way. Otabek had explained his rationale for causing Yurio to attend camp, purely out of hope for something more rather than maliciousness. He hadn't gone too much into detail, agreeing to elaborate more later-- again with the small doses of exposure-- but Yurio had forgiven him already.
The plans weren't very thought-out, instead a quick consensus of convening at breakfast and spending the day together. To do what, Yurio didn't possess even a trivial clue; he sighed and stood up from the worry. He was a long way back from fifteen, not letting himself fall into the whispers-turned-screams again.
Back inside the room, he was greeted by a knock.
Yurio frowned, muttering under his breath; Otabek wasn't the type to show up this early. The rhythm was set down now, so he sucked in a bout of air and opened the door, eyeing the person on the other side wearily.
"Yuri! I have big news!" Calliber exclaimed, practically jumping into his room, uninvited.
"Is it a boy or girl?"
"I'm a lesbian."
"Call it the power of the rainbow." Yurio quipped, shaking his head at the girl who always seemed that she'd ingested one too many cups of coffee. Today, she was sporting her typical odd fashion choices: leather skirt; bright green v-neck; black jacket draping down to the floor. Somehow, it wasn't even close to the eccentric heights her wardrobe had been over the past couple of months.
But he wasn't focused on her outfit, rather her eyes that were constantly rolling into the back of her head-- could she even see what was right in front of her?-- and her next question. Certainly not the time-wasting babble he'd been accustomed to; no, she was serious, a seldom occurence for the conglomerate of pink feathers and princess tiaras.
"Where did you go yesterday, hon? Summin's up, you're more fancy than usual." Calliber twirled a finger in the pile of tangled matter atop her head she called 'hair'.
"Fancy?" He had no idea what she was referring to. If anything, he looked more crumpled than usual with his lack of sleep, thanks to the incessant barrage of musing.
"You know, like cats with tuna instead of dry food, like, look at me! Mr. Fluffypants with my neat 'lil can of Friskey, whiskers perked up and all, oh my golly! Did you know, I saw a cat food box yesterday that had a cat with a moustache on it! Never seen anything so cute-- did I mention I love cats?-- and I almost bought it. But, I don't have a cat." Her lips drooped downward in a sudden pout, throat getting choked up and messing up her pronunciation.
