'... which could thus, lead to a decrease in red blood cells. AND I AM OFFICIALLY DONE!!" Ahmad exclaimed slamming his mac book shut.
" oh and here I thought we were going to have to spend the night here" I replied slightly looking up from my phone or rather the little red dot that claims that Ahmid is still at the office. Now that I mentioned spending the night here, I looked around the university library to realize we were the only two around and of course Dorthy, the library manager and the mahogany clock at the information desk showed ten minutes passed eight.
"and what have you been up to? with your eyes glued to your phone and all?" he nonchalantly asks stacking his possessions into his mustard yellow bag. eww!! I know right it could have been any other color.
"nothing" my phone screen lit up and the tracker app I installed signalled me that Ahmid had left the office. Yes, I have resulted to stalking my husband.
"that was some minutes too late Saf for it to be nothing" he was talking but my eyes were trailing the red dot which was to be Ahmid in his car on the road
"you seem like you are stalking something or someone"
"what?? No!!" I exclaimed too fast, he probably would figure out I was lying
"that was too early, so you're definitely stalking someone. so who are you stalking?" he is now very interested in this, which is very evident in his grinning expression "or the question should be why are you even stalking anyone? I thought you were married, wait!!! I am having an idea, are you stalking his ex? that would be ..."
" ugh!! shut up already. theres no ex and I am definitely not stalking anyone plus I have been sitting here for the past two hours waiting for you to complete your project the least you could do is stop pestering me with your assumptions. oh wait, and buy me pizza."
" cranky much are we?"
" this my friend is how a starved lady behaves" I replied heaving a sigh of relief that he bought my act or at least dropped the topic and wasn't asking questions. how was I supposed to explain stalking my husband to him?
" consider yourself lucky woman because I am also starving so pizza it is, my treat" he says as he retrieved his abandoned jacket from the sit next to his.
" like I was even going to pay" I scoffed "well not after starving me"
" drop it already, you're just a few dramatic sentences away from being drama queen"
It was already November, and the winter air was a bit on the angry side tonight, I looked up at Ahmads profile beside me to see he was also chattering his teeth and holding his jacket snug around him then looked down at my phone and when I saw the red dot still moving, I killed the screen light.
It made me remember a few weeks ago when I told him I was married. He had invited me to his house for dinner so many times which I declined, it was on a friendship bases plus his mother really wanted to meet me, but there was no way Ahmid would be cool with that and I could not go without asking him and there was also no way I was even going to ask him. which left me with the only option which was to tell Ahmad about Ahmid, at first he was mad at me for not telling him earlier considering we'd been friends for a considerable period of time and it was something really important but he got over it eventually.
" how far is this pizza place again? I'd rather we took a cab" I stuttered through clenched theeth
" relax amigo we are almost there and after a bite all would be worth it"
" I really dont think anything could compensate for this cold"
" starved lady, we have arrived our destination" he joked as we rounded a corner and came to stop at a little eatery.
