Chapter Six

It was Monday again, and a new school week was starting.

I woke up to my alarm clock blaring music into my ear. It wasn't that loud, it was just right next to my ear. I didn't have the volume that high because I didn't want to bother Cloud. I groaned, sat up, and started listening to the song it was playing. "Counting Stars" by One Republic. Damn, I loved this song. I quietly sang along.

Everything that kills me makes me feel alive!

I got up, got dressed, then left the my room. Then I left the room completely, and walked down to the school's cafateria for breakfast. Most students were already there, including Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, and Selphie. I knew Rinoa was probably there somewhere.

I got my food, then looked around for somewhere to sit. I was about to head for an emty table, but I heard a voice call me.

"Rayna!"

I turned around to see Aeris and Tifa waving me over to their table. Then Cloud nodded toward the empty seat next to Tifa. I smiled and sat with them. Selphie then sat with us, too. Eventually, Squall, Rinoa, Zell... wait Squall! He actually wanted...? Nah, he probably came over here because his "friends" were over here. Conversation sparked up.

"So, Rayna, where are you from?"

"Are you an orphan? Most of us are."

"What school did you used to go to?"

"Are you from some other Garden and transferred here? That's what I did."

"Do you have any siblings?"

As I answered the barrage of questions thrown at me, I noticed that Squall and Cloud didn't say a thing. Well, Cloud did talk, but only when Tifa started talking with him.

We sat in class, and it was about lunch time. It turned out, I had the same schedule as Cloud, Tifa, Squall, and Selphie, and also, Zell, Aeris, and Rinoa had the same class as me at this time. I chose to sit next to Aeris, and Zell sat at the other side of me. Cloud and Squall sat at the back, Tifa sat behind me, and Rinoa and Selphie sat at either side of her. Quitsis was our instructor.

Zell could NOT sit still for a minute. He was so freaking hyper.

"When the hell will it be lunch time?" he asked.

"It'll be lunch time when it's lunch time," I smirked.

We finished what we were doing faster then Quitsis expected, so she gave us time to chat. Tifa said she had to use the restroom, then left.

While Tifa was gone, the intercom came on.

"This is a Code Red," a woman SeeD's voice called, "I repeat, a Code Red. We need as many SeeDs as possible to report to the head office immedatly. One SeeD must stay in each hallway to protect students."

I looked around as the class tensed.

Squall's hands were clenched into fists. Aeris gasped. Cloud shook his head. Looks of worry crossed Selphie and Rinoa's faces. Quitsis grabbed some keys, and the chain whip she kept on her desk.

"You know the drill," she said before leaving the classroom and locking the door behind her. Aeris stood up and turned of the light, then asked, "Who's going to- oh, I'll do it."

She picked up a sheet of paper and began calling of names.

"Is Squall in here?" she called. Squall lifted his hand, so she nodded and checked his name of the list.

"Rinoa?"

"I'm in here."

"Zell?"

"I don't wanna be in here, but yeah."

"Rayna?"

"Hi," I said, waving. Aeris smiled.

"Tifa?"

There was no response.

"Tifa?" Aeris repeated.

Cloud stood up.

"Tifa's not in here?" he cried.

"She went to the restroom!" Aeris gasped as she remembered.

"What?" Cloud bellowed. He jumped up and ran to the door. Knowing it was locked me muttered, "Damn you stupid rules!"

"What is he doing?" I quietly asked Aeris.

"A promise he made to Tifa. 'I promise I'll come whenever you're in a pinch,' he said."

"Oh..."

Cloud growled loudly, then he kicked a window that led out to the hallway, and shattered it. Then he climbed through the hole he made and disappeared down the hallway.

"There's no way we can stop him now," Aeris sighed, then continued calling out names.
