Upon arrival in Silla, they were escorted from the ship to their new house. Aoibheann, Caitlin and their two brothers were feeling extremely homesick already, so stayed in their bedrooms most of the night. "I hate it here!" Caitlin exclaimed, shaking her head "I hate it!". Aoibheann lay on her bed, eyes transfixed on the ceiling. "Me too" she replied quietly "I hate it so much". "Are you afraid?" Caitlin then asked her, laying down on her own bed and sighing deeply. "Afraid of what? Getting married?" Aoibheann asked.
"Yeah" Caitlin responded "I mean -- it's pretty daunting". "Yes I am" she admitted "I'm so afraid that I don't even know what to do. I'm afraid that I won't be lucky enough to have what mother and father had. True love". "True love?" Caitlin scoffed "is this what you call true love? Mother died so he's marrying a younger woman. A woman three years older than you!". "I know ~ but that's not what I meant. She loved him. She would have never remarried. Father is just a different person. I just ~ I wanted to marry for love. I was hoping that Father would understand that".
"Me too" Caitlin sighed "so we're getting language lessons?" she said, changing the subject. "Yes. We cannot leave the house until we have at least some knowledge of the language of this land" Aoibheann explained "I think it makes a little sense -- considering we wouldn't be able to communicate with anybody". "True" her sister shrugged "so I take it they will begin in the morning?". "Yes" Aoibheann told her sister, turning over and blowing out the bedside candle "get some rest, you must be exhausted". "Goodnight, Aoibheann". "Goodnight Caitlin".
The following morning; a tutor arrived at their home who had been to Ireland previously. Caitlin found his quite interesting, and questioned him a little. Though Aoibheann just wanted to get it over with. Within five long, boring weeks, they were familiar with the language. "Are you ready?" Caitlin asked, pulling at the sleeves of her emerald, Irish dress as they stood at the front door, preparing to leave for the first time. "Yes" Aoibheann replied in the language of the land, coughing a little before opening their front door.
As soon as they stepped out, they were in the town. Women dolled up to the nines strolled around with parasol's, wearing dresses with unique and wonderful prints. Aoibheann had to get one, she felt out of place in her dress. Caitlin, on the other hand, was proud to be different. They joined the crowd, hoping to be seen as equal, but everyone was staring at them. "They know we're outsiders" Aoibheann groaned. "Of course they do; we're Irish" Caitlin laughed, slapping her sisters arm. Within minutes, they stood outside a dance club called Okta.
"We should go there tonight!" Caitlin exclaimed, reading the sign that had it's opening hours on it. "Can we?! Oh but would father allow it?" Aoibheann groaned. "All the young ladies come here" they heard someone say behind them, and they turned to see a very handsome young man standing there. Wow, Aoibheann thought, the men there were beautiful. Though one man in particular caught her eye. He was standing behind the man, and she presumed he was a part of his clique. His eyes were widened slightly as he looked at her, his cheeks a bright red. In the moment, Aoibheann didn't notice this. She just stared into his beautiful dark eyes, her own cheeks flushed darkly.
"I'm Soo-ho" he explained "my father is a true bone, is your father considered a true bone? If so, I'm sure we will get along just nicely". "U-uh" Aoibheann stuttered out, unable to put a complete sentence together. "Yes" Caitlin replied for her, causing Soo-ho's eyes to snap to her. Caitlin had noticed her sister was too occupied to respond "we are. Or at least, this is what we were told. We were princesses back in Ireland, now just true bones". "Interesting" Soo-ho smiled "what shall I call you two?". That snapped Aoibheann out of her trance. He was simply gorgeous, she wondered what his name was. "I'm Aoibheann" she smiled "and this is my younger sister, Caitlin". "Beautiful names" Soo-ho said, shooting them a cheesy grin. "Anyway, we must get going. We have a soccer match. Tell your father that all the young ladies go to Okta at night. He will immediately let you go and make friends" he explained, stepping aside "excuse us ladies".
With that, he walked off, his clique following shortly behind him. Though Aoibheann caught the eye of the man she had been watching, and he caught hers as they passed. Aoibheann turned to look at her sister, hoping to just keep walking. "I know you think he's good looking" Caitlin smirked "I think he likes you too". "No, you've got it all wrong" Aoibheann told her quietly, turning to look at him as he disappeared into the crowd of young women fawning all over them.
"I think that was love at first sight".
