"Father" Aoibheann called, knocking gently on the door of her father's study. She watched as he stood, smiling gently at her "ah, Aoibheann!". She slipped inside, closing the door gently behind her "I wanted to speak with you". "Ah, what about?" he asked "if it's about your marriage; I know it's a frightening situation but my darling daughter you must". She shook her head "it's not about that at all, father. I was hoping that you would allow Caitlin and I to attend this wonderful club downtown. Apparently all the young women and men attend". She watched her father's eyes light up.
Oh no. While she was hoping that man would be there; her father was hoping he would spot a husband for her. "Wonderful" he smiled "I would love for you to attend. I have a meeting with an official tonight, anyway. He would love if you would marry his son; but of course your father has a few questions to ask". She crossed her fingers behind her back, praying to the lord that this man would be the one she saw that day.
"That sounds amazing, father. Thank you very much for allowing us this". With that, she bowed slightly, turning and leaving him alone in his study. Moments later, she sat quietly at her make-up vanity, doing her make-up to perfection. "Are you alright?" Caitlin asked from her spot beside her, also doing her make-up at her vanity. "I don't know" Aoibheann sighed, turning in her seat to look at her younger sister "do you think that father would allow me to choose my own husband, if he were a true bone?".
"Maybe" Caitlin said, tapping her chin "I'm sure it's a possibility. Why? Are you thinking about that man again?". "All day" she admitted "I'm wondering what his name is, what his favourite food is and why he kept looking into my eyes". She groaned, putting on some powder "do I look beautiful today?". "Always" Caitlin smiled, patting her sister's back "you'll be okay. Even if you can't marry him". "I don't think you understand!" Aoibheann exclaimed "I feel funny just thinking about that man already! How am I supposed to marry somebody else? Bear children with a man I have no feelings for? God, maybe I need to avoid him". "Maybe that's best" Caitlin sighed, still slightly taken aback by her sister's outburst. That was quite rare. "Let's just get going" Aoibheann told her, standing up and grabbing her purse "are you ready?". "Yes" her sister replied, standing up and grabbing her purse also "let us go".
Within minutes, the pair stood outside Okta. They were stopped at the door, and asked who they were. Once they gave their father's name, the guards eyes widened and they stepped aside. Aoibheann shot Caitlin a confused look, but shrugged and entered the club. Music blared from the various musicians around them, and dancers danced behind screens. Probably so drunken men wouldn't touch them. Aoibheann approached the bar, ordering two beers for herself and Caitlin. The bartender seemed disgusted, but poured them their beers nonetheless. Weird, Aoibheann thought, at home there wouldn't be this reaction.
She met Caitlin at their table, smiling kindly at her as she sat down and sliding her beer across the table. "I'm sorry for my outburst earlier. I'm just scared" Aoibheann explained "I wish it were possible to marry him and talk father into asking". "Well you never know; if he's a true bone you shall be allowed, I presume Caitlin smiled "don't worry, I'm not upset with you. I completely understand". Suddenly, they heard a crowd of girls squealing about something. "Master Ban Ryu is here!" they were giggling, which caused Aoibheann and Caitlin to turn to look at the three people entering the bar. Caitlin raised an eyebrow at Aoibheann "he looks like a cruel man. Why are they all over him?". "Some women like that cold and heartless type" Aoibheann shrugged "whereas I don't. I guess we should respect their interests". Caitlin nodded "true". Aoibheann began to daydream about the man she had met earlier, only to be snapped out of her thoughts by more squealing, what NOW?! "Master Soo-ho is here too!". Wait, that name sounded familiar.
She turned to see the three young men she had met earlier enter the club. Her eyes widened as they met his, turning quickly in her seat as her cheeks flushed a bright pink. Caitlin turned in her seat "he was looking at you immediately. He must really like you, too. You should talk to him". "I don't have the confidence to do that" Aoibheann sighed. Caitlin clicked her tongue, then smirked "I have an idea". "What might that be?" Aoibheann asked suspiciously. "Nothing" her sister smirked, sipping on her drink. "Tell me!". "No!".
After everything had died down, and all the attention was no longer on them, Soo-ho lead his clique into a private room with their drinks. They listened to Ah-ro telling a story through the wall for a while, though Dan Se couldn't help but think about the mysterious Irish girl from earlier. He so badly wanted to speak with her, but she was so intimidating. Not in a scary way; she was just so beautiful. He knew she was a true bone, and they would never be allowed to be together, anyway. His grandfather would rather die than watch him marry a true bone, and her father would probably rather die than watch his daughter marry a half breed.
"There's a fight!" they suddenly heard, causing Soo-ho and Jang-hyun to dart from the room. Dan se was just about to follow when he heard a female voice cough behind him. He turned, his face flushing a bright pink at the sight of her. It was the girl! She was drunk, he could tell. She hiccuped, then giggled as she began to talk "excuse me, mister handsome. I wanted to talk to you, handsome". She then giggled again "Oops, I already called you handsome. I called you handsome twice, that's how handsome you are". He couldn't stop the smile forming on his lips "well, thank you".
"Can we talk? I think you're so handsome" she said, stumbling into the room where he had once been with his two friends. He looked around to make sure nobody had seen them (in case rumours spread about her, he didn't want that) and then walked inside, closing the door behind him. "Is there something you need?" he asked her shyly, afraid to make a move. If he did; they would both end up hurt in the long run.
"Yes" she giggled, going to sit on the chair but nearly falling instead. He rushed to her side, helping her take a seat "what is it, miss?". "Your name" she smirked, leaning her elbow on the table. "My name is Seok Dan Se. What is your name?". She giggled "so cute" and poked his cheek "I'm Aoibheann. Aoibheann O'Byrne. I'm royalty, so you sh-should be happy I like you". She hiccuped again, causing her to giggle "why excuse me". She was adorable, he couldn't resist her. He had to make her his.
"You're very beautiful, miss Aoibheann. Different from the girls around here" he told her shyly. She smiled goofily, which reminded him of his brother Hansung. He chuckled, reaching out and wiping some foam off her lip with his thumb. "I want something else now" she said quietly, leaning forward slightly. "Hm? What is that?" he asked her, his cheeks heating up every time she moved closer. "A kiss" she giggled "from the handsome man".
He couldn't resist; he would be stupid not to kiss her. Though suddenly, it dawned on him that this woman would not remember any of it. He wanted her to remember; he wanted her to confess sober. Luck struck him, as he didn't even have to deny her the kiss. She leaned forward, slumping onto his shoulder and passing out from the drink. He caught her just in time, sighing deeply "you are a very interesting and different woman indeed, Miss Aoibheann O'Byrne".
