Sunlight filtered through the window. A black-haired boy was sprawled on his bed, sleeping. A few Pidove gathered on the windowsill and pecked curiously on the glass. The boy snored, scaring the flock away. He continued to drool as his bedroom door slowly creaked open. A small yellow monster padded softly into the room. It leaped onto the bed and prodded the boy's face with a paw. The boy rolled over, sucking his thumb. The creature let out a remarkably large sigh despite its small size. If it were to complete the mission, then it would have to take extreme measures. It closed its eyes, summoned energy, and let out a powerful thundershock.
"Aaaaargghh!" Red shot up from his bed. He felt like he'd been electrocuted by lightning, which was indeed the case. "C'mon, Pika! What'd you do that for?" he complained, glaring at his Pokèmon, who was purring innocently. The door banged open, and a brown-haired boy barged into the room. "What's the matter?" he demanded. "I thought I heard someone- Whoa!" Red waved at his dormate. "What's up, Green?" he called cheerfully. "R-Red! Your hair! You look like..." Green choked out, trying not to laugh. "A riceball? A clown wig?" Red suggested. "A total moron," Green sniggered, finally unable to hold back the laughter. "Hmph, I figured," Red said drily. "Hey, at least Blue isn't here," replied Green, finally regaining his composure. "She would've taken dozens of pictures." "Well, maybe my hat will hide it," said Red, ruefully gazing at the afro-like 'do in his mirror. "Anyways, " Green continued, " we have to get out. Today's the first day here at the Academy, remember?"
"Oh, yeah!" Red thought about the giant ship that had taken the 13 dexholders to the Unova Pokèmon Academy. They had arrived late yesterday night, so the academy registered them while they crashed in their rooms. Green let out a huge yawn. "Everyone's already waiting outside our door," he announced after checking his Pokègear. "This early?" Red asked, surprised. "I have no doubt they were woken by an electrifying scream," Green answered with a smirk. "Lay off, Green," Red groaned, trying to jam his cap on his head. The other dexholders were already outside in the hallway. "Yikes!" Diamond exclaimed. "What happened to your hair?" "Do you really need to ask?" Red sighed. "You could borrow some of my conditioners and shampoo," Ruby offered. "Or my-" "Or we could just use a comb and a spray bottle," Yellow interrupted. She pulled on a pair of rubber gloves and produced a plastic comb and water sprayer from her pack. "All right now, take off your cap," she directed. Yellow began spritzing water on various places, then combing it flat. "Green?" she asked while working. "Do you think you could stop Blue from taking too many pictures?"
Blue was rapidly snapping shots with her phone. Green, who was watching Yellow act as a stylist, shrugged and said,"Sure." He grabbed Blue's arm and dragged her away, probably to do some training. "Hey!" Blue yelped. "Let go of me." "Nuh-uh, not until we get to the training grounds," Green replied, and they disappeared down the hall. "Are you sure it's ok to leave those two alone?" Platinum asked skeptically. "They could easily make a scene." "Exactly, which is why we're going with them," Gold declared. "We are?" Crys said. "Yep! We're gonna spy on those two in case Blue gets one of her ideas again, " Gold said. He dashed after them before anyone could say another word. "Well, I guess I better go with him, " Crystal sighed. "You coming, Silver?" "I don't think I have a choice," Silver grumbled. The two quickly chased after Gold. "Well, some good will come out of it at least, " Pearl commented. "Really? And what would that be?" Sapphire asked.
"We'll be more alert if Blue gets another 'idea'," Pearl replied. "True," Black said thoughtfully. "I can agree with that," Red said, wincing as tbe comb hit knots. "Hey Yellow, you almost done?" "Almost," she answered, tugging the comb through a strand of hair. "There, all done!" She leaned back and admired her work. "Wow, Yellow!" Ruby gasped, impressed. "I wanna hire you to be my next stylist!" Red's hair was back to normal. "Thanks, Ruby," Yellow said, stretching her hands. "Although my fingers are all cramped up. Don't you ever comb your hair, Red?" Red shook his head. "Nope, I don't need to," he explained. "My hair goes to a natural style whenever I wake up." The boys laughed, and the girls let out a sigh of exasperation. "Shhhhhh!" Sapphire suddenly shushed them. "I hear something!" Everyone froze as they listened attentively.
