*beep, beep, beep beep*
My alarm went off at six thirty in the morning; I had a hard night so I tried to ignore it. I tried to turn off the annoying noise maker off but the sounds of beeping didn't stop. I picked up the beeping clock and slid it into my right hand and catapulted it towards the false wall leaving a small dent. I rammed my head into the soft, comfortable memory foam pillow that was given to me by my dad. I heard walking towards my room then my mother come into my personal chamber and stared at the mess that I formed. She stared at me, and then back to the alarm clock, her jaw was hanging like a bone out of its socket. She was mad, really mad...
"Jasper Lewis! Explanation, right now!!!" My mother screamed as she begun to take off her belt before I had the ability to respond to her question.
She approached my bunk as I burrowed myself into the bed sheets. She wore a livid expression on her face as she tugged at the blanket that safeguarded me, it came right off. She started swinging at me with her leather belt. I whimpered in pain as she pulled apart each fiber on my blue cotton shirt with her nails. She had scratched my chest and face multiple times before walking out of my room while putting her belt back on: in case I did something again. Before she was even two feet out the door, she turned around with a satisfied expression on her face.
"Next time, don't wake me up at six thirty in the morning unless you want to deal with more pain. Do you understand?" she said with a voice as calm as the wind on a sunny summer day. I stuttered trying to make the words exit my mouth properly.
"Y-Yes mother I-I understand," I mumbled with what little energy I had left inside of me. With that, she was gone. There was blood all over me and my bed, this wasn't the first time that I dealt with a situation like this, and last time this happened was only about a week ago. I got out of my bed still sobbing in pain and wobbled towards the bathroom leaving a trail of blood behind me. When I got there I turned on the shower to let the water warm up. After the steam started to build onto the glass window of the shower, I took off my clothes and stepped into the rain of boiling hot water. I felt pain as the liquid that we call 'water' seeped into the cuts that my mother's nails had made. The water wasn't clear but it held a crimson red color from the vital fluid that dripped from the cracks in my skin.
After the blazing water settled to a normal temperature I stepped out and grabbed my soft, green towel that was given to me by my father. I carefully rubbed the towel against my powerless body, I put on my loose green cargo pants to try to make as little friction to the wounds as possible. I had a black tee-shirt with a bow and arrow design on it that I picked up at Walmart. I went to the cold basement to grab cleaning products for the stains on my bed; I went back upstairs and washed my bed making it creamy white again. It was seven o'clock and even know I had school, I lied in my bed sobbing and wishing that my dad would come back. At about five past eight in the morning my mom walked in my room holding my old baseball bat from when I used to play on the school's baseball team three years ago. She was holding it in her left hand since she was left handed; the bat was tapping on her right hands palm. The sounds of the wooden bat hitting her soft, deadly hands sent a disturbing chill down my spine.
"Well... what do we have here, a boy who skipped school for the second time this week. What should I do to punish this poor little boy who just didn't listen when he was twelve?" my mother said while slowly walking towards me with a savage look on her old face, She was fifty years old but oh boy could she hit as hard as a twenty year old! She swung at me vertically while I rolled to the side just in time to avoid the hit but at the same time falling off of the bed. "Get back here you little piece of shit!" she yelled as I started opening up my window.
She swung at me again this time using more force, hitting me right me right in the gut. The window finally opened and I had to force myself to jump out the two story window. I fell onto the tall grass that hadn't been cut since last month. I heard my mother yell at me to come back but I just ignored her and ran... not looking back.
I had only about two hundred dollars from my part-time job that I had to quit because of my mother. It was at a little diner on the outskirts of town, it didn't pay much but with the money I planned to save up for a car, and I had just got my license last year. I went to the local gas station to grab water and some food; I wasn't planning on going back to that hell-hole of a house I lived in. I walked into the local Seven Eleven and there were about five pairs of eyes looking at me. Most had their jaws dropped looking at the wounds on my face and arms? I ignored them and walked to the beverages section to take a coke, I went to the snack section and took a bag of pickle flavored clips and went to the check out. I put my food onto the marble counter."I-is this e-everything s-sir?" the cashier said while he tried not to look at me. I nodded my head and gave him three dollars and fifty cents for both the chips and the drink that I chose. I left the store still wondering where I could go. I didn't have any friends besides Helen Cameron who was a friend at school but she lived about ten miles away. I might just risk it, it's better than staying here alone. I started walking on the sidewalk of the busy downtown roads, there were cars zooming past me. When each semi-truck drove by, I was hit by a strong gust from the wind. Just as I thought that this day couldn't get any worse it started to rain. Instead of continuing my walk to Helen's house. I went into an alley to sleep, it was better than sleeping with my bitch mother. The next day I would finish my trip to her house and they will hopefully let me stay.It was hard to sleep at night but at least it wasn't as bad as when I was with my mother. No person should have the right to do that to a seventeen year old boy, it's even worse when it's their parents who the ones is causing the pain. I got up but I was forced back down by an ache that was built up where I was hit by my mother in the gut. I forced myself up, it wasn't easy but I managed. I continued my walk to Helen's house, since it was the morning there was less traffic than yesterday. After about fifteen minutes of walking a police cruiser came to a stop on the sidewalk where I was walking peacefully. The officer rolled down his passenger seat window that was tinted a light black."Excuse me but I'm looking for a jasper Lewis, Have you seen or heard of him anywhere lately?" the officer said in a rough tone as if he knew that the 'jasper' person that he was looking for is standing right in front of him, he put his hand on his belt next to his holster and I officially became nervous."W-Why do y-you need to find him?" I stuttered nervously worrying that it was a little too obvious who I was. He grinned and told me that my mother was looking for me. My heart was thumping faster than ever before, I had to make a choice and fast. I chose to book it, I ran as fast as I could and even faster adding the adrenaline. I couldn't outrun a cop but I could possibly outsmart him. I took a right as the first alley and there was a system with other alleys connected to the first. It was like a little maze that I would use to trick him and hopefully get far enough away from him to lose sight. I took a left then a right then another left and I was at another road that leads to the main one. I ran down as fast as possible almost tripping multiple times over rocks and cracks I was somehow able to keep myself upright. I finally got somewhere I could probably rest. I was hyperventilating because of how fast I was sprinting, I could have probably beat a cheetah in a race, I almost fell over because my head started spinning in all directions as a result of the massive breaths I needed to take. I got back to my feet and continued marching even if my gut literally didn't want me too. Finally, after about a day of walking and running away from cops, I'm finally at Livia's house I walked up to the grey door of the modern house and applied force with my finger onto the doorbell. I wasn't greeted by Livia but by her mother Nelle Cameron, she was a tall, dirty-blond just like her beautiful daughter. Her jaw dropped down just like all the others, but she knew me so she tried to keep her jaw upright. She didn't say anything; she just let me in and motioned me to the couch. "Livia! You have a guest!!!" her mother yelled looking upstairs. I heard tapping coming down the stairs and Helen walked through the doorway. She was wearing a blue skirt that matched her blue eyes. She saw me and gasped; she ran right over and pulled me into a warm hug. She let me go and spoke nervously,"jasper! What happened? You weren't at school yesterday nor the day before, I was worried!" I couldn't help but smirk and how much she cared for me. "Let's just say I was torched by my mother." I said proudly answering to her question, Both Livia and her mother gasped; they were in shock but still believed me. "I'm calling the police" Livia's mom said right as we heard a knocking at the door...
