Chapter 6 - Sirens

Minx's POV

I was awake all night, thanks to 'Thing' who has been keeping me company.

I run my fingers through my purple bangs and sigh, For the meantime, I was sharpening my sword for company and it was 5:58 when I decided to hunt for food before they wake up.

Walking through the trees and carefully taking my steps to not trip over anything, it was taking me a while until I heard leaves crunching and I turn to see a deer and smiled.

I carefully crept towards the animal and miserably failed, it started to run but I think I'm up for a race.

Thing! Power, Now.

I felt adrenaline rush, I smirk and run in an incredible speed and stopped in my tracks when I was almost at the lake.

I hid behind a tree or more like I ran into the tree, adrenaline still pumping as she was alerted because of the deer.

I sigh in relief when I felt the power leave me, But I still felt my heart pumping with speed.

Was that..

I peeked from behind the tree and observed for a bit, Seeing Kristen just floating and relaxing, Eyes closed and a smile on her face. I felt my cheeks grew hot.

I haven't noticed that I was actually showing myself visibly, leaning my left arm on the tree and scoffing in disbelief, I didn't notice that I was smiling like an idiot either.

I understand that you're enjoying the view but we still have a breakfast to prepare

I took my eyes off her and look down my boots "Uh, yeah, yeah of course" I said out loud, which surprised me because I've never done that before.

I mentally scolded myself and curse under my breath as I walk away and back to the place where we spent the night.

I saw Pewds and Kenneth talking and I smirked "Where have you been? I thought you abandoned us" Pewds says and I chuckle "Could never do such thing" I answered back as I sat on the dirt.

"Have you seen Kristen?" Kenneth asks and I swallowed the lump on my throat "What do you mean?" I asked as if I haven't seen her taking a bath in the lake "She's not in her tent when we woke up" Pewds say, turning to me.

I shrug and shook my head "Sorry, no idea, I was about to hunt but I went back here since I didn't catch anything" I lied and Pewds sigh
"Did you think she escaped?"
I flinched a bit

"I dunno, But I think it's better if we take a look around" I said and they both agreed. We all stood up and decided to go to the lake.

She's in trouble

Huh?

I asked, as we look around the lake, but not even a sign of her. I tripped at something and look at what it was.

A brown leather boots.

"Isn't that hers?" Kenneth asks, I nodded and Pewds looks at the lake "She's not in here though" He says, His hand forming a salute to cover his eyes and search at the lake.
